Page 2 WHEEL OF ROTARY WHEEL OF ROTARY Page Three DECEMBER 30, 195k TODAY One of the nation's great story tellers, Chet Lauck (Lum of the en-tertainment team of Lum and Abner), is the featured speaker for today's program. Program ehairman for the day is one who perhaps knows Chet as well as anyone, his brother, Dud, a member of the club.... Chet's talk today is expected to be on the in-formative side since he recently re-turned from Yugoslavia where he spent three months shooting scenes for a series of TV shorts to be released soon. It is expected that he will describe in detail his impressions of the methods and operations of the Communists in Europe and what America can expect from that political theory. The speaker is no stranger to Las Vegas as he has owned a ranch near here for many years and is a frequent visitor to the area. * ic * NEXT WEEK Dr. Richard F. Pedersen, a mem-ber of the United States Embassy staff at the United Nations will be the featured speaker at next week's meeting Dr. Pedersen is the son of Ralph Pedersen, Las Vegas direc-tor of the YMCA The speaker is expected to portray with words the action of past months in the United Nations and what this country can ex-pect in the months ahead, particular-ly with reference to the Communist bloc. LAST WEEK The annual Christmas party of the club was held last Thursday with the a//. Rotaryanns as the honored guests. The luncheon attracted an overflow crowd /Alt and was considered one of the best in jf; / the long history of the club. Partic-^-~' ular praise for the splendid program goes to the committee in charge which was headed by Allen Bunker. The Rev. Walter Hanne, a club mem-ber, delivered an inspiring Christmas message, interspersing his talk with humor which marks the genial attitude of Walt. Mrs. Marjorie Dickinson, Las Vegas school music instructor, presented several of her students in a series of ^ vocal numbers all with a Christmas mo- ^ tif. The entertainment portion of the i, day's program was well received and club members were unanimous in express-I ing thanks to the young students and(vf)j Mrs. Dickinson for their efforts. I ' Past President Wayne Kirch provedN( to be the outstanding Turkey-weight guesser, and under the guidance of Les Edwards, also a past president, won a large "bird".
