    AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 120, CHAPTER 36, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, ALSO KNOWN AS SECTION 6, ORDINANCE NO. 354, BY PRESCRIBING PARKING TIME LIMITS IN THE PARKING METER ZONE; PRESCRIBING FEES FOR PARKING; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 120, Chapter 36, Code of Las Vegas, Nevada, 1949, also known as Section 6, Ordinance No. 354, is hereby amended to read as follows: (a) Parking meters shall be operated in the parking meter zone every day between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M., except Sundays and legal holidays; provided, however, that within the meaning of this article the term "holiday" shall include the following days only; The first day of January, the 12th day of February, the 22nd day of February, the 30th day of May, the 4th day of July the first Monday in September, the 12th day of October, the 31st day of October, the 11th day of November, Thanksgiving Day and the 25th day of December. (b) (l) Parking or standing a vehicle in a designated parking meter space shall be lawful for six minutes for each one cent coin of the United States of America, or for thirty minutes for each five cent coin of the United States of America, or for sixty minutes for each ten cent coin of the United States deposited in the parking meter on both sides of the street on the following streets and parts of streets, namely: On Fremont Street from Main to 6th Street; on Main Street from Carson Avenue to Ogden Avenue; and on First Street, Second Street, Third Street, Fourth Street; Fifth Street, Sixth Street, Seventh Street, and Eighth Street to the North and South thereof, one half of the block off Fremont, limited, however, to such maximum total time for parking as shall be prescribed by the order of the Board of Commissioners from time to time and so indicated by proper notice placed upon such parking meter. (2) Parking or standing a vehicle in a designated space in any other portion of the parking meter zone shall be lawful for twelve minutes for each one cent coin of the United States of America, or for sixty minutes for each five cent coin of the United States of America, deposited in the parking meter, limited, however, to such maximum total time for parking as shall be prescribed by the order of the Board of Commissioners from time to time and so indicated by proper notice placed upon such parking meter (c) The chief of police is hereby directed and authorized to mark off a loading and unloading zone in the parking meter areas wherein commercial trucks may park in the parking zones to loan or unload merchandise without depositing coins for a period up to and including the hour of 10:00 A.M. Should any truck or delivery car be parking the zone to load or unload merchandise between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M., except as in Paragraph (a) of this Section, without depositing a coin, then, the violator will be given a ticket and the legal penalty imposed. SECTION 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3. Any person violating the provisions of this Ordinance by not paying the fee pro­vided for shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall pay a fine of not less than $1.00 nor more than $500.00. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its final reading and adoption, and final publication as in the next section provided. SECTION 5. The City Clerk and Clerk of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas shall cause this ordinance to be published once a week for two successive weeks immediately following its first reading and adoption in the Las Vegas Review Journal, a daily newspaper published in the City of Las Vegas. BAKER__________________ Mayor ATTEST: SHIRLEY BALLINGER_______ City Clerk The above and foregoing ordinance was first proposed and read by title to the Board of Commissioners on the 17th day of February, 1954, and referred to the following committee composed of Commissioners Bunker and Whipple for recommendation; thereafter the said committee reported favorably on said ordinance on the 3rd day of March, 1954, which was the regular meeting of said Board of Commis­sioners; that at said regular meeting held on such day the proposed ordinance was read in full to the Board of City Commissioners and was adopted by the following vote: Voting "Aye": Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and Mayor Baker Voting "Nay": None Absent: None APPROVED: C.
