AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CERTAIN SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 17, CODE OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, 1949 BY PROVIDING FOR THE POWERS AND DUTIES OF THE CITY CLERK AS TO THE COLLECTION OF LICENSES; PROVIDING THE DUTY OF THE LICENSEE AS TO PAYMENTS; CHANGING THE RATE OF LICENSE TAX FOR TRAILER PARKS AND COURTS, AND OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH. The Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas do ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Section 8 of Chapter 17 Code of Las Vegas, Nevada, 1949, is hereby amended to read as follows: The City Clerk must make diligent inquiry as to all persons in this city liable to pay license as provided in this chapter and must require each person, where the license tax depends upon the receipts or amount of business transacted, to state under oath the probable amount of business which he, or the firm of which he is a member, or for which he is agent or attorney, or the association or corporation of which he is president, secretary or managing agent, will do in the next succeeding period for which such license may be issued, which amount shall be computed according to the amount of business done during the period next preceding the period for which the license may be issued, unless an extension or enlargement of business is contemplated. Thereupon such person, agent, president, secretary or other officer must procure a license from the city clerk for the term desired, and in the class of which such person is liable to pay. In all cases where an underestimate has been made by the party applying, the party making such underestimate, or the company he represents, shall be required to pay for a license for the next period for which licenses may be issued, double the sum otherwise required and the city clerk and any other of­ficer designated by him shall have the power and authority to enter any store, building or any other place in which such business is being conducted at any time during business hours and have access to the books of such business for the purpose of ascertaining the amount of sales made. The information received from the licensee under the provisions of this section shall be confidential and available only to those city officials concerned in such matters, SECTION 2, Section 12, Chapter 17, Code of Las Vegas, Nevada, 1949, is hereby amended to read as follows: TRAILER CAMPS, Every person operating a trailer camp shall pay a quarterly license fee according to the following schedules: (a) For one to 18 trailer spaces inclusive $20.00 (b) For 19 to 30 trailer spaces inclusive $25.00 (c) For 31 to 50 trailer spaces inclusive $30.00 (d) For 61 to 80 Trailer spaces inclusive $35.00 (e) For 81 trailer spaces and above $50.00. SECTION 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, are hereby repealed, SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its publication as in the next section provided, and final passage, SECTION 5. The City Clerk and the Clerk of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas shall cause this Ordinance to be published once a week for two successive weeks immediately following its first reading and adoption, in the Las Vegas Sun, a daily newspaper published in the City of Las Vegas, s/ C.
