CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL Acting City Manager Heath made a report to the Commission regarding various DISTRICT PROPERTIES properties owned by the Clark County School District which the City might consider acquiring. Mr. Heath stated the only parcel of interest was that in Held in Abeyance Twin Lakes Subdivision No. 6, all of Block 1; however, in view of the fact Mr. George Harris of the School District recently notified him that they are not interested in completing the improvements that the City Manager's Office recommended, it was respectfully suggested that the School District be informed of the City's disinterest in such and all of the parcels indicated. Commissioner Fountain moved this matter be held in abeyance for further study. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor Mayor Gragson voting aye; noes, none. SOUTHERN NEVADA Commissioner Whipple moved that expenses be authorized for Commissioner Fountain INDUSTRIAL to attend a meeting to be held in Chicago on November 3, 1959; said meeting FOUNDATION having been scheduled by the Southern Nevada Industrial Foundation to promote CHICAGO MEETING industry coming into this area. Commissioner Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Fountain authorized Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor Mayor Gragson to attend voting aye; noes, none. U. S. GOVERNMENT Commissioner Whipple advised that legislation had been recently enacted whereby BILLS municipalities could invest money in U. S. Government Bills and he recommended the City invest $360,000 on 60-day terms and $860,000 on 240-day terms. Investment Approved Commissioner Elwell moved this recommendation be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Elwell, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor Mayor Gragson voting aye; noes, none. PROPOSED ORDINANCE Additional time was requested for the proposed Child Welfare Ordinance which was Child Welfare Ord. introduced and read by title at the regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners held July 1, 1959, and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Elwell, Continued committee for recommendation. ORDINANCE NO. 808 An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE REGULATING AND LICENSING ESCORT BUREAUS; Escort Bureau Ord. PRESCRIBING OTHER DETAILS IN CONNECTION THEREWITH; AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF, was read by title and reported on favorably by Commissioners Adopted Fountain and Elwell, committee for recommendation. Commissioner Fountain moved the above-entitled Ordinance No. 808 be adopted. ORDINANCE NO. 809 An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION IV OF ORDINANCE NO. 378, Rezoning Z-9-58 & REFERRED TO AS SECTION 10, CHAPTER 24, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY Z-24-59 AMENDING THE LAND USE PLAN MAP ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, AND CHANGING THE ZONING DESIGNATION OF CERTAIN AREAS OF THE SAID MAP, was read by title and Adopted reported on favorably by Commissioners Fountain and Elwell, committee for recommendation. Commissioner Elwell moved the above-entitled Ordinance No. 809 be adopted. BEING RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE SUBDIVISION OF LAND INSIDE THE Amendment INCORPORATED AREA OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA, AS FILED IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, AND ADOPTED BY SAID Adopted ORDINANCE NO. 628; BY DEFINING BONDS AND PERFORMANCE BONDS SPECIFIED THEREIN; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, was read by title and reported on favorably by Commissioners Fountain and Whipple, committee for recommendation.
