CLARK COUNTY FAIR AND Commissioner Sharp moved that Mayor Baker he appointed as a member of the Clark County RECREATION BOARD Fair and Recreation Board to fill the vacancy created as a result of Wendell Bunker's resignation from the City Commission. Mayor Baker Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Appointment Fountain, Sharp, Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Mayor Baker passed his vote. PROPOSED ORDINANCE Additional time was requested for the proposed Building Code Ordinance Amendment which was Building Code introduced and read by title at the regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners held Amendment February 18, 1959, and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Sharp, committee for Continued recommendation. PROPOSED ORDINANCE Additional time was requested for the proposed Child Welfare Ordinance Amendment which Child Welfare was introduced and read by title at the regular meeting of the Board of City Commissioners Amendment held March 4, 1959, and referred to Commissioners Fountain and Whipple, committee for Continued recommendation. ORDINANCE NO. 789 An Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 10 OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE AND Secondhand Dealers REGULATING SECONDHAND DEALER LICENSES, CLASSIFYING, PROMOTING PUBLIC PEACE, SAFETY AND HEALTH, PROTECTING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PROPERTY, PROTECTING PUBLIC MORALS, AND RESTRICTING Adopted THE NUMBER AND LOCATION THEREOF AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATING THERETO, having been reported on favorably, was read in full to the Board. LIQUOR, GAMING & The Commission considered the application of The New El Morocco, Inc. for Liquor License, TOBACCO APPLICATION Tobacco License and Gaming Licenses at the New El Morocco, 1332 North "E" Street, The New El Morocco Commissioner Fountain moved that the application of The New El Morocco, Inc., for Liquor License, Tobacco License and Gaming Licenses at the New El Morocco, 1332 North "E" Street, Approved be approved subject to clearance with the Police Department; this matter to be handled by the City Manager. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. SHOW CAUSE ORDER City Manager Kennedy presented a letter from the Child Welfare Board recommending that a Mrs. Connie Mormon, show cause order be issued to cite Mrs. Connie Mormon to appear before the Mayor and Board Child Nursery of City Commissioners to show cause, if any, why her licenses to operate child nurseries at the Las Vegas Children's Nursery, 827 South 7th Street and Happy House, 516 North 9th Cited to Appear Street, should not be revoked. April 15, 1959 This action was requested for the following reasons: 1. Failure to properly isolate or remove a child from her nursery upon discovery that said child had a contagious disease. 2. Failure to obey instructions to take no additional children after service of notice to take no further children for a period of two weeks. 3. Failure to keep proper records of the children admitted. 4. Failure to abide by City Ordinance providing that no child under two years old shall be accepted for care. 5. Failure to comply with the rules and regulations prescribed by the Las Vegas Child Welfare Board. Commissioner Whipple moved that Mrs. Connie Mormon be cited to appear before the Board of City Commissioners at their next regular meeting to be held at 7:30 P.M., April 15, 1959, to show cause, if any, why her licenses to operate child nurseries at the Las Vegas Children's Nursery, 827 South 7th Street and Happy House, 516 North 9th Street, should not be revoked, and instructed the City Attorney's Office to prepare appropriate notice. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. GENERAL FUND BALANCE City Manager Kennedy reported that the Gross Payroll for this period is $107,000.00; General Fund as of March 31, 1959, after Service and Material Warrants and Payroll Warrants, is $994,431.92.
