At this time Mrs. Sallie Murphy appeared before the Commission to register a complaint concerning the new animal shelter. Mrs. Murphy advised the Commission that the new building of the Humane Society is fine for an administration building but there is very little provision shelter and humane care for the animals. City Manager Kennedy stated that this matter was under investigation by the City; that the Humane Society had been put on notice concerning the renewal of their contract with the City and the status of the building they have constructed on City land. Thereafter the Commission requested that Mrs. Murphy contact the City Manager concerning her complaint to see what emergency steps can be taken by the City to take care of the animals. Mrs. Murphy advised the Board she would be willing to sign a formal complaint if such is required. At the hour of 9:00 P.M. the meeting recessed and reconvened at the hour of 9:30 P.M. with all members present as of the opening session. City Manager Kennedy recommended that Bid No. 36.28 for the furnishing of gasoline for City equipment be awarded to the low bidder, Texas Company. Commissioner Bunker moved this recommendation be accepted and Bid No. 36.28 be awarded to the Texas Company. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time City Manager Kennedy recommended the low bid of the Texas Company on Bid No. 36.29 for the furnishing of Diesel and Fuel Oils to the City be accepted. Commissioner Sharp moved the recommendation of the City Manager be accepted and Bid No. 36.29 be awarded to the Texas Company. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. City Manager Kennedy reported on Bid No. 36.33 for the furnishing of automotive tires and tubes to the City, and recommended the bid of Superior Tire Company be accepted. Commissioner Bunker moved the recommendation of the City Manager be accepted and Bid No. 36.33 be awarded to Superior Tire Company. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Sharp. Mr. Sharp stated his reason for voting against this motion was that he did not believe that the warehousing of the item was a part of the bid item.
