This being the time heretofore set for the opening of bids for the furnishing of diesel and fuel oil to the City for the period from July 1, 1956 to June 30, 1957, bids were received from the following firms: SHELL OIL COMPANY SIGNAL OIL COMPANY STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA THE TEXAS CO. TIDEWATER OIL COMPANY Commissioner Sharp moved the foregoing bids be referred to the Director of Public Works for tabulation and recommendation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. This being the time set for the opening of bids for the furnishing of one station wagon, 1956 Model, bids were received from the following firms: JAMES CASHMAN CO. PAT CLARK PONTIAC COMMUNITY CHEVROLET GAUDIN MOTOR COMPANY Commissioner Bunker moved the foregoing bids be referred to the Director of Public Works for tabulation and recommendation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. This being the time set for the opening of bids for the furnishing of batteries to the City from July 1, 1956 to June 30, 1957; bids were received from the following firms: DAVIS BROS. RICHFIELD TRUCK TERMINAL GENERAL AUTO PARTS LAS VEGAS AUTO PARTS LAS VEGAS FIRESTONE DEALER, INC. Commissioner Sharp moved the foregoing bids be referred to the Director of Public Works for tabulation and recommendation. M. the meeting recessed and reconvened at the hour of 8:45 P.M. with all members present as of opening session. Commissioner Fountain moved the application of Fitzsimmon Stores Ltd. for a limited package liquor license at the Thriftimart, 2200 W. Bonanza, commencing July 1, 1956 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and Mayor Baker voting aye; noes, none. Consideration was again given to the application of Lloyd L. St. John, Twin Lakes Corp. for reclassification of the East 780 feet of the South 660 feet of the N½ of the SW¼ of Sec. 29-20-61 from R-1 to R-3-T. This application had previously been considered by the Commission on June 6, 19% and referred back to the Planning Commission for an additional public hearing. Mr. Lloyd St. John appeared in this regard and requested approval of this application for re - zoning, even though the recommendation of the Planning Commission was that the application be denied. Discussion followed. Thereafter Commissioner Sharp moved the recommendation from the Planning Commission that the application for rezoning be denied, be accepted and denial authorized. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, -Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Fountain passed his vote stating that he owns property in the area. At this time the Commission considered the recommendation of the Planning Commission to re- classify the S½ of the SW¼ of the SW¼ of the SW¼, Sec. 3% T20S, R61E, Bounded by East Charleston, 14th Street, Clark Avenue and l5th Street, from C-1 to R-1. Discussion was held on the rezoning of this property which is bordered by commercial zoning, and it was determined the recommendation of the Planning Commission for reclassification not be accepted. Commissioner Bunker moved the recommendation of the Planning Commission for the rezoning of the above described property from C-1 to R-1 be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
