Commissioner Sharp moved this ordinance be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and lost by the following vote: Commissioners Fountain and Sharp voting aye; noes, Commissioners Bunker, Whipple and His Honor. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE AND OTHER SPECIALIZED CODES DEALING WITH THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY; PROVIDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE IN THE EVENT OF SECOND INSPECTIONS REQUIRED; AND OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Whipple was read in full to the Board. Commissioner Whipple moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 697 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The Commission considered the appeal filed by Jeanne Houssels for Maryland Park Manor and James C. Young for Olga Fields on the use permit granted to Lloyd Skrenes to maintain an off-street parking lot on Lots 1 and 2, Block 2, Maryland Tract No. 2 Commissioner Whipple moved a public hearing on this matter be held March 7, 1956. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance for the annexation of the E½ of the NE¼ of Section 1, T21S, R60E, MDB&M, entitled: AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING TO, AND MAKING A PART OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CERTAIN SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBED TERRITORY ADJOINING AND CONTIGUOUS TO THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; DECLARING SAID TERRITORY AND INHABITANTS TO BE ANNEXED THERETO AND SUBJECT TO ALL IMS AND ORDINANCES; ORDERING A PLAT SHOWING SAID TERRITORY TO BE RECORDED IN THE OFFICE OF THE COUNTY RECORDER OF THE COUNTY OF CLARK, STATE OF NEVADA; AND PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Sharp and Whipple, was read in full to the Board. Mr. Harry Claiborne appeared before the Board on behalf of Raymond Salmon and requested that the suspension of his tavern license to operate the Bonanza Bar, 4l8 West Bonanza be lifted. Commissioner Bunker moved that Mr. Salmon be allowed to operate the Bonanza Bar until disposition has been made in District Court of the case alleging that he was in possession of stolen liquor, provided that Mr. Salmon operates this business himself. Motion seconded by Commissioner Fountain and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp brought up for discussion the Cliff May Homes, known as Charleston Heights Subdivision, Tract Nos. 3 and 5 and stated that he thought the City should swear out a complaint against the Bums Construction Company for fraud. Mr. Kennedy advised the Commission that Burns Construction had been given ninety days to make corrections on these Tracts as recommended by the City Engineer. He stated that corrections had been made in Tract No. 5, but that no effort had been made to correct the violations in Tract No. 3. Commissioner Sharp moved this matter be referred to the Grand Jury or District Attorney after the deadline of March 1, 1956. The Commission requested that Paul Faulstich, masonry contractor on the Cliff May Homes be requested to appear before the Board at the next regular meeting on March 7, 1956 to show cause why his license should not be revoked. City Manager Kennedy reported that he had an offer from a Mr. Reynolds to purchase five acres of City owned property at San Francisco and Atlantic for $2700 per acre. Commissioner Bunker moved Mr. Reynolds' offer to purchase this property be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Sharp moved the application of Max Taylor for a percentage interest in the liquor and gaming licenses for the Golden Gate be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Fountain, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Mr. Kennedy advised the Commission that the General Service Administration wants to put in new sidewalk in front of the Post Office and have requested the City to move the trees. The Board authorized the City Manager to proceed with the removal of these trees. City Manager Kennedy requested approval of three new salary schedules to be known as Schedules 32,33 and 34. Commissioner Fountain moved the three new salary schedules be approved.
