    FURNITURE YMCA Use of Wildcat Lair LAS VEGAS LIONS CLUB Contribution FIRE ALARM SYSTEM PROPOSED ORDINANCE Sever Rental SALES EXECUTIVES MEETING COUNCIL CHAMBER CHAIRS Purchase / FIRE HYDRANTS Purchase V ORDINANCE NO. 631 Vagrancy ORDINANCE NO. 630 Trailer Parks Commissioner Whipple moved that the purchase of furniture for the City Manager's and the City Attorney's office be authorized. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. At this time the City Manager presented the request of the YMCA to use the Wildcat Lair during the construction of their own building. This request vas referred to the City Manager to find out whether they would be willing to use the building on a month to month basis. Mr. E. V. Martinet, president of the Las Vegas Lions Club appeared before the Board and stated that his organization would like to contribute toward equipment for some city park. Discussion was held and the City Manager was requested to write a letter to the Las Vegas Lions Club, suggesting three parks which might be benefited by such a contribution. At this time the agreement between the Southern Nevada Telephone Company and the City Fire Department on the fire alarm system was discussed. No action was taken by the Board at this time. An emergency ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 364 ALSO KNOWN AS CHAPTER 29, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY PROVIDING A NEW SCHEDULE OF RATES FOR SERVICE RENDERED BY AND THROUGH THE MUNICIPAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEM; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, was referred to Commissioners Sharp and Bunker for further report. The City Manager requested permission to purchase 30 or 40 tickets to enable city employees to attend the Sales Executive Meeting to be held February 10, 1955. Permission was granted for this expenditure. At this time Mr. George Wade, City Engineer, requested the purchase of 100 chairs for the City Council Chambers. He said that these chairs, a sample of which was exhibited, would cost approximately $13.00 plus $1.25 each for installation and freight costs from Los Angeles. Commissioner Whipple moved that this purchase be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. City Manager George Rounthwaite stated that the fire department needed to purchase 100 new fire hydrants for $11,250.00 out of the revolving fund, and recommended the Board's approval of this purchase. Commissioner Whipple moved the purchase of these fire hydrants for $11,250.00 be approved by the Board. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 70, ALSO KNOWN AS CHAPTER 21, SECTION 54, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949; BY DEFINING THE OFFENSE OF VAGRANCY; PROVIDING PUNISHMENT UPON CONVICTION THEREFORE; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH, having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Jarrett and Sharp, was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett moved the above entitled ordinance No. 631 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. An ordinance entitled: AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE PLANNING AND ZONING ORDINANCE, ALSO KNOWN AS CHAPTER 24, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, 1949, BY ADDING TWO NEW CLASSES OF DISTRICTS, TO ALLOW AND PERMIT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF TRAILER PARKS UPON MEETING CERTAIN CONDITIONS; PROVIDING OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett moved the above entitled ordinance No. 630. be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Bunker. 2-2-55
