ACCEPTANCE OF NOTICE We, the undersigned. Mayor, Commissioners, City Manager, and City Attorney of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, do hereby admit due service of the foregoing notice of Special Meeting. C. D. Baker Wendell Bunker Rex A. Notti______ Reed Whipple________ Howard Cannon_____ Las VegaS; Nevada July 13, 1954 (CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING) A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held this 13th day of July, 1954, was called to order at the hour of 4:00 P.M. by His Honor Mayor Baker with the following members present: Mayor C. D. Baker Commissioner Wendell Bunker Commissioner Rex A. Jarrett Commissioner Harris P. Sharp Commissioner Reed Whipple City Manager George Routhwaite Asst. City Mgr. R. W. Notti City Clerk Shirley Ballinger Absent: City Attorney Howard W. Cannon The application of Marie R. and Carl E. Phillips for a Restaurant Beverage license at the Charleston Inn, 17 W. Charleston Blvd; formerly issued to Ronald E. McGarry was considered by the Board at this time. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett moved the application of Marie R. and Carl E. Phillips for a Restaurant Beverage license at the Charleston Inn, 17 W. Charleston be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker; Jarrett; Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time Howard W. Cannon; City Attorney arrived at the meeting. The request of Mr. William Coulthard on behalf of Mr. Charles Lasky for the issuance of a building permit for a proposed store and office building at Cincinnati and South 5th Street was considered by the Board. Mr. Russell Taylor representing the American Legion and the tenants of their property and Mr. Thomas Foley representing Mr. Theodore Glenn; owner of the Glenn-Vegas Motel appeared and again protested the granting of this permit on the grounds that there was not sufficient parking facilities provided. Commissioner Jarrett moved that this application for a building permit be deferred until July 21 to give Mr. Lasky an opportunity to secure a definite confirmation of his lease with Terrible Herbst for parking facilities. This motion died for lack of a second. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved that this permit be granted providing that some arrangement be made through the Engineering Department to allow for as much parking on Cincinnati as is possible and that Mr. Lasky's building be set back 4 feet to allow 60° angle parking on the North side of Cincinnati and parallel parking on the south side of this street. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker; Jarrett, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noeS; none. Not voting Commissioner Sharp. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time; this special meeting adjourned.
