    AGREEMENT - STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT Light Pole Bases on 5th Street At this time an agreement with the State Highway Department for the in sta lla tio n of light pole bases on 5th Street in conjunction with the widening of 5th Street from Oakey Blvd. to the North City Limits, was considered. Commissioner Whipple moved the aforementioned agreement known as the State Highway Department Agreement No. CL-03, for the installation of light pole bases on 5th, be approved and the Mayor and Clerk authorised to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. CITY PARK NAMED Dutton Park The request of the U-WAN-UN Study Club that the City Park located at Charleston Boulevard and Park Paseo be named Dutton Park in honor of Mrs. Mary Dutton who donated said land, was presented for consideration. Thereafter Commissioner Jarrett Moved that this request be granted and said park area be named Dutton Park. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. ORDINANCE NO 58O Rezoning At this time Commissioners Jarrett and Whipple reported favorable on a proposed ordinance to enact the rezoning of property generally located on the west side of North 5th, north of the Alpine Village from R1 to R-3 and Lots 6 through 10, Block 22 of resubdivision of Block 13 and portions of Blocks 21 and 22, Wardie Addition from R-3 To C-l. There after said committee reported favorably on this ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION IV OF ORDINANCE NO. 378, REFERRED TO AS SECTION 10, CHAPTER 2k, OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE, 1949, BY AMENDING THE LAND USE PLAN MAP ADOPTED BY THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, AND CHANGING THE ZONE DESIGNATION OF CERTAIN AREAS ON SAID MAP, which was then read in full to the Board. Commissioner Whipple moved the above entitled Ordinance No. 580 be adopted. Motion secionted by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none; PROPOSED ORDINANCE Board of Adjustment An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT TO ACT ON CERTAIN MATTERS DEALING WITH ZONING WITHIN THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS; DEFINING THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES; PROVIDING FOR OTHER MATTERS PROPERLY RELATED THERETO; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Sharp and Whipple for recommendation. LIQUOR LICENSE - Addition of Partner Desert Districting Co. At this time the Commission considered the addition of a partner, Matthew Matonovich to the Desert Distributing Co., 722 North Main Street, Wholesale Beverage and Importers license. A recommendation was received from the Police Department on this applicant. Thereafter Commissioner Whipple moved that Matthew Matonovich be added to the license of the Desert Distributing Co. along with Herman Lerch, original licensee. GAMING APPLICATION - New Location Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Jarrett moved the application of Cardinal, Sullivan and 0'Brien for license for seven slot machines at O’Brien’s Liquor Store, 1311 E. Charleston for the fourth quarter of 1953 be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. CIGARETTE APPLICATIONS Commisioner Whipple moved the following applications for license for the retail sale of New Locations cigarettes and tobacco products be approved: MOBIL SERVICE STATION 1301 E. Charleston Sutton Vending MOBIL SERVICE STATION 10th & Fremont Sutton Vending GILBERTS LIQUOR STORE 404 W Bonanza Sutton Vending RYP’S 132 South 5th Sutton Vending Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. SARATOGA RACE BOOK License Revoked At this time the application of Sam Cohen for a coffee vending machine at the Saratoga Race Book, 114 South 1st Street was presented for consideration. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved that the license for Race Book at the Saratoga Race Book 114 South 1st Street be revoked. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners B Bunker, Whipple and His Honor voting aye;noes, Commissioners Jarrett and Sharp. DETECTIVE LICENSE Cantlon Adjustment The application of Ray McCaughey for a Detective license for the Cantlon Adjustment Company in order that they can conduct a repossessing business was considered. This applicant had been investigated and recommended by the Police Department. Commissioner Bunker moved the application of Cantlon Adjustment Company by Ray McCaughey for a detective license be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. PLUMBERS EXAMINING Board Resignation of Reuben Cohen Commissioners Jarrett moved the resignation of Reuben Cohen from the Plumbers Examining Board be accepted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. CITY BUDGET - 1954 & 1955 At this time the City Manager presented and distributed copies of the proposed City Budget for 1954 and the first six months of 1955. No action was taken on this matter at this time. PROPOSED ORDINANCE Parking Meter Zones An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 3 6 , SECTION 116, CODE OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 396, AND ORDINANCE NO. 429 BY EXTENDING PARKING METER
