SHARP, Commissioner GLENDALE GARDENS - Sewer Connection Denied COUNTY SEWER CONNECTIONS Policy of Commission NEW SEWAGE DISPOSAL PLANT PROPOSED Las Vegas, Nevada November 23, 1953 A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada held this 23rd day of November, 1953 was called to order at the hour of 5.30 P.M. by His Honor Mayor Baker with the following members present: Mayor Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner C.D. Baker Wendell Bunker Rex A. Jarrett Harris P. Sharp Reed Whipple City Attorney City Manager City Clerk Howard C. Cannon R. V. Carey Shirley Ballinger Mr. Edwin S. Lowe, representing the proposed Glendale Gardens project in the request to connect to and use the City Sewage facilities, was present and discussed this matter with the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Bunker moved the request of Glendale Gardens to use the sewage facilities of the City be denied. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp and Whipple voting aye; noes, none. Not voting: Mayor Baker. Commissioner Whipple moved that the Board go on record as being willing to negotiate sewer service contracts with applicants in the County if the applicants are adjacent to the City and are willing to request annexation and secure consent from the County, within a reasonable time, providing that they have immediate plans for the development of their project. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that the Board act as soon as possible to acquire additional ground and easements for sewer lines and for the purpose of building a new sewage disposal plant to take care of growth and expansion of the City. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, Commissioner Whipple moved this meeting adjourn. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye, noes, none. City Manager City Attorney City Clerk Commissioner Whipple moved that Payroll Warrants of $44,574.53 be approved and the Mayor and City C.D. Baker Wendell Bunker Rex A. Jarrett Harris P. Sharp Reed Whipple R.V. Carey George Rounthwaite Howard W. Cannon Shirley Ballinger s Nos. 1415 to 1778 Inclusive in the net amount City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Jarrett and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. SERVICE AND MATERIAL WARRANTS Commissioner Whipple moved that Service and Material Warrants Nos. 50624 to 50743 inclusive in the total amount of $31,365.08 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Sharp and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Jarrett, Sharp, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. MINUTES Commissioner Jarrett moved the minutes of November 18 and 23, 1953 be approved by reference and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same.
