ORDINANCE #400— Assessment District #200-2 PAWNSHOP APPLICATIONS Renewals PAWNSHOP APPLICATION State Loan PAWNSHOP APPLICATION Stoney's APPROACH OUTRALL SEWER CONTRACT CITY AUDITING TAXI & BUS APPLICATIONS Renewals INVESTIGATION OF GAMBLING SYNDICATES PROPOSED ORDINANCE Gaming SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT Payment No. 2 Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following votes Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE DETERMINATION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, TO MAKE CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS BY INSTALLING A SANITARY SEWER IN THE SAID CITY; PROVIDING THAT THE COST AND EXPENSE THEREOF SHALL BE PAID ENTIRELY BY SPECIAL ASSESSMENT UPON ALL THE LOTS INCLUDED WITHIN THE SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT HEREBY ESTABLISHED ACCORDING TO THE BENEFITS; AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO, Having been reported on favorably by Commissioners Bunker and Peccole was read in full to the Board. Thereafter Commissioner Moore moved the foregoing entitled Ordinance No. 400 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner,Whipple moved the application of Louis Mack, Mack Jewelry, 118 North 1st and Stanley Robinow, Pioneer Loan, 120 South 1st for Pawnshop licences be allowed. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole moved the application of Kenneth Linch and Ben R. Ross, State Loan & Jewelry Co. 104 Fremont be allowed, subject to the report of the Police Department. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole moved the Pawnshop license of Stoney's, 128 South 1st Street be transferred to Gynna H. Arnold subject to the report of the Police Department and the approval of the necessary bond required by ordinance. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Moore passed his vote. Commissioner Moore moved that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign the contract with Paul Vukich, Jr. for the construction of the Approach Outfall Sewer, when Mr. Vukich's bond has been approved by the City Attorney. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole moved the proposal of Wood, Pyle & Company of Pasadena, California for City auditing, for 1950 Be accepted under the terms of their letter of December 8, 1949. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, Commissioner Moore. The following applications for renewal of taxi and bus licenses for the 1st quarter of 1950 were presented to the Board for their consideration: LUCKY CAB S. Charles Speck 15 taxis GRAY LINE S. Commissioner Bunker moved the City Commission send telegrams to the Nevada Congressmen urging the support of the Senate Bill introduced by Senator Eustace Keafeauver of Tennessee providing for national investigation of gambling syndicates. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 9 OF ORDINANCE NO. 350 OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS,. ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT GAMING AND OPERATION OF SLOT MACHINES IN THE CITY OF US VEGAS WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING A LICENSE THEREFOR; REGULATING THE SAME; FIXING THE AMOUNT OF LICENSE FEES; PROVIDING THE PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF: REPEALING ORDINANCE NOS. 77 , 82, 88, 103, 115, 165, 245, 271, 287 AND 319, AND ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH; AND ALL OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO." ALSO REFERRED TO AS CHAPTER 13, SECTION 11 OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE, was read by title and referred to Commissioners Bunker and Peccole for recommendation. Commissioner Whipple moved that Payment Estimate No. 2 in the total amount of $65,585.92 to Hoagland-Findlay Engineering Company, contractor for the Sewage Treatment Plant, " Unit No. 1 be approved and the Comptroller be directed to draw a warrant for that amount. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
