ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS BOARD Appointment PLUMBING BOARD CITY PRINTING - Union Label Requirement CIGARETTE LICENSE GAMING APPLICATIONS Additional Change of Name & Operator TRANSFORMER - 10th & Charleston ORDINANCE NO. 394 PROPOSED ORDINANCE Slot Machines ORDINANCE NO. 396 Parking Meters BE IT RESOLVED, this 7th day of December, 1949, by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark State of Nevada, that the deed, dated the 18th day of November, 1949, executed by Peter and Cuba Clos to the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the real property described therein be, and is hereby accepted for the purposes and intentions as therein set forth; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be attached to said deed, and that the same be recorded in the office of the County Recorder of the County of Clark, State of Nevada, and filed in the records of this Board. Commissioner Whipple moved that pursuant to the recommendation of the City Manager, the following persons be appointed on the Electrical Examiners Board: Embree Wilson Commissioner Robert Moore Harvey Luce Commissioner William Peccole Ralph Hensinger Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye: noes, none. Commissioner Moore passed his vote. Commissioner Moore moved that the appointments to the Plumbing Board be deferred until December 22, 1949. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye: noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that the City Attorney be requested to furnish an opinion in writing to the Board relative to the constitutionality of requiring a union label on City printing, and that copies of this opinion be sent to the Allied Printing Trades Council and the Las Vegas Typographical Union. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote* Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye: noes, none. Commissioner Peccole moved that the application of Sutton Vending Service for a license for the Retail Sale of Cigarettes and Tobacco Products at Joe's Lunch, 119 North 1st Street be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. At this time the following gaming applications for the 4th quarter of 1949 were presented to the Board for their consideration: MONTE CARLO CLUB, INC. 15 Fremont Fred Soly 9 slots WIMPY'S DRIVE INN 1516 South 5th Vegas Enterprises 3 slots Thereafter Commissioner Moore moved the foregoing gaming applications be allowed. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Moore moved that the matter of the Transformer installed at 10th & Charleston by the Southern Nevada Power Company be referred to the City Attorney for an opinion. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved that the letter of the Carpenters & Joiners of America relative to the legality of Ordinance No. 394 be referred to the City Attorney for an opinion. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. The Committee for report on the proposed ordinance amending the ordinance licensing slot machines, asked for additional time before reporting. An ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 354 OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS ENTITLED, "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TRAFFIC AND REGULATING THE USE OF THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS; CREATING AND DEFINING PARKING METER ZONES; PROVIDING FOR THE DESIGNATION OF INDIVIDUAL PARKING SPACES; DEFINING AND PROVIDING FOR THE INSTALLATION, OPERATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF PARKING METERS; PRESCRIBING PARKING TIME LIMITS; REQUIRING DEPOSIT OF COINS FOR THE USE OF PARKING METERS AND PARKING METER ZONES AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION AND DISPOSITION OF SUCH COINS; PROVIDING FOR THE ENFORCEMENT THEREOF; DEFINING OFFENSES AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES; AND PROVIDING THAT INVALIDITY OF PART SHALL NOT AFFECT THE VALIDITY OF THE REMAINDER; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH." ALSO REFERRED TO AS CHAPTER 36, SECTION 116 OF THE LAS VEGAS CITY CODE, was reported on favorably by Commissioners Moore and Whipple and thereafter read in full to the Board for the first time. Commissioner Whipple moved the foregoing entitled Ordinance No. 396 be adopted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
