Crosby GAMING APPLICATIONS New Renewals Additionals Las Vegas, Nevada November 7, 1949 A regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners held this 7th day of November, 1949 was called to order at the hour of 3:15 P.M. by His Honor Mayor E. W. Cragin with the following members present: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple; Acting City Manager George O. Treem, City Attorney Howard W. Cannon and Chief Deputy City Clerk Betty Funston. Absent: City Clerk Shirley Ballinger. Commissioner Whipple moved that the Minutes of October 21 and 26, 1949 be approved by reference and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor Voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that Payroll Warrants Nos. 1085 to 1088 inclusive in the net sum of $26,334.01 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Moore moved that Service and Material Warrants Nos. 1868 to 1872 inclusive in the amount of $54,002. 73 be approved with the exception of Item 23, Warrant Sheet No. 1869 in the amount of $90.00, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. This being the time set for opening bids for the Approach Outfall Pipeline, Sewage Plant Unit No. 2, the following bids were received and opened: JOHN B. POWERS CO. Reno, Nevada $44,550.00 BEBECK & BHRICK Los Angeles, California 33,500.00 PAUL VUKICH Los Angeles, California 32,890.00 HOAGLAND FINDLAY Long Beach, California 38,800.00 NEVADA CONSTRUCTION Las Vegas, Nevada 43,709.00 LEMBKE CONSTRUCTION Las Vegas, Nevada 38,967.00 Commissioner Whipple moved that the foregoing bids be referred to Mr. Ralph O'Neill and Mr. Harold Laird for computation and tabulation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Bunker, duly seconded by Commissioner Whipple, and carried unan­imously, the following Resolution is adopted, and order made: BE IT RESOLVED, this 7th day of November, 1949, by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, that the deed, dated the 20th of September, 1949, executed by The Aeroville Corporation to the City of Las Vegas, County of Clark, State of Nevada, and that the real property described therein be, and is hereby accepted, for the purposes and intentions as therein set forth; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be attached to said deed, and that the same be recorded in the office of the County Recorder of the County of Clark, State of Nevada, and filed in the records of this Board. The investigation report received from the Police Department on Irving I. Gelsin, Dan Dee Bar, 203 North 1st., was ordered filed and the license issued as granted on September 28, 1949. Pursuant to the favorable report received from the Police Department Commissioner Whipple moved that a license be granted to R. L. Merritt and P. M. Heglie to conduct a merchant patrol and detective agency. Motion seconded by Commissioner Bunker and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that a license be granted to Herbert G. Crosby for soliciting, pending the filling out of the correct application form. Motion seconded by Commissioner Peccole and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Peccole moved that the following new gaming applications for the fourth quarter of 1949 be granted: BELL VARIETY & HARDWARE L. P. Lawrence 1511 Fremont 3 slots BONANZA MARKET Frank Lancaster 568 W. Bonanza 1 slot H & B ALL NITE MARKET L. Brown & D. Hayes 1619 Fremont 2 slots Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Bunker moved that the application of Vegas Enterprises, Wimpy's Pick-A-Rib Joynt, 1561 South 5th for 3 slot machines for the fourth quarter of 191*9 be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Bunker, Moore, Peccole, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Commissioner Whipple moved that the following additional gaming applications for the fourth quarter of 1949 be granted: BOULDER CLUB Boulder Club, Inc. 118 Fremont 10 slots FRONTIER CLUB Frontier Club, Inc. 117 Fremont 1 Craps KHOURY'S CLUB SAVOY Norman Khoury 116 Fremont 38 slots, 1 Craps, 2 "21" 1 Roulette
