533 HOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the board of Commissioners accept the bid of the First National Bank of Nevada to lend the amount of Fifty-three Thousand Dollars ($53,000.00) and the bid of the State of Nevada Public Employees Retirement Commission to lend the amount of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00) to mature not later than two and one-half (2 1/2) years from the date of issuance of the promissory notes evidencing such loans, and such notes to bear interest at three percent (3%) per annum, and be redeemable at option of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, at any time when money is available. NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to sign the promissory notes for and in behalf of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, evidencing the amount loaned. NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that at the first tax levy of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, following the creation of the emergency indebtedness aforesaid, the Board of Commis­sioners of the City of Las Vegas will levy a tax sufficient to pay the same. /s/ E. Cragin, Mayor - .- oOo ---- RESOLUTION NO. 144 WHEREAS, Senator Pat McCarran, the Senior Senator from the State of Nevada has so faithfully and untiringly served this State of Nevada for the past 17 years, and WHEREAS, Senator Pat McCarran has contributed much time and effort to the development and improvement of Southern Nevada and more particularly to the City of Las Vegas, and WHEREAS, the City of Las Vegas was badly in need of a new sewerage system and sewerage disposal plant, and WHEREAS, the rapid growth and development of the City of Las Vegas required a new sewerage system and sewerage disposal plant, and WHEREAS, Senator Pat McCarran, ever mindful of the great need and necessity of the City of Las Vegas in working out a new agreement with the Federal Government for the purchase of its sewerage system from the United States Government, through his efforts and influence was instru­mental in obtaining for the City of Las Vegas a new agreement between the United States Govern­ment and the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, which sizeably reduced the payment to the Federal Govern­ment on its sewer facilities by said City, and WHEREAS, the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, through the unceasing and centering efforts of Senator Pat McCarran, will be enabled to construct a badly needed sewerage disposal plant and sewerage disposal facilities, and WHEREAS, by this new agreement the progress and growth of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada will continue, and the health and welfare of its citizens has been assured by the effective efforts of Senator Pat McCarran, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 20th day of May, 1949, that said City, by this resolution express its gratitude and appreciation to our Senior Senator Pat McCarran, for his efforts in obtaining this result and thereby insuring to the citizens of Las Vegas, Nevada, the future growth and development of the said city, and NOW, THEREFORE, be it further resolved that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to spread a copy of this resolution on the minutes of the books of the said City and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Honorable Senator Pat McCarran. /s/ E. Cragin______ Mayor ATTEST: /s/ Shirley Ballinger City Clerk - . oOo--- RESOLUTION NO. 145 WHEREAS, the area for which a license may be issued for gambling is confined to the district bounded by the east side of Main Street, the south side of Stewart Avenue, the west side of Second Street, and the north side of Carson Avenue, and also on both aides of West Jackson Avenue between North D Street and North F Street, and outside this district in any hotel having at least one hundred guest rooms, and
