    315 Las Vegas, Nevada November $, 1948 A regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners held this 5th day of November, 1948 was called to order by His Honor Mayor E. W. Cragin at the hour of 2:15 P.M. with the following members present: Commissioners Baskin, Clark and Whipple. Absent: Commissioner Moore. Also present: City Manager J. M. Murphy, Deputy City Attorney S. George Gilson and City Clerk Shirley Ballinger. Absent: City Attorney C. Norman Cornwall. PROPOSED ORDINANCE His Honor Mayor Cragin told a group of people present, interested in the proposed ordinance Solicitation of relative to the solicitation of funds in the City of Las Vegas that this ordinance will not be Funds accepted in its present form, but will be referred to the City Attorney to hold a meeting with various interested groups to recommend a new type of ordinance. VACATION OF "A" At this time Mr. Abe Schur appeared before the Board relative to the vacation of a certain part STREET of "A" Street. Mr. Schur requested that the twenty-five foot strip to be granted to Gus Kline be used for parking purposes only. At this time Commissioner Clark left the meeting. MINUTES Commissioner Baskin moved that the minutes of October 22, 191:8 be approved by reference and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Clark and Moore. PAYROLL WARRANTS Commissioner Whipple moved that Payroll Warrants Nos. 1653 and 1660 to 1669 inclusive in the net sum of $27,921.38 be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Clark and Moore. SERVICE & MATERIAL Commissioner Whipple moved that Service & Material Warrants Nos. 1654 to 1659 inclusive and WARRANTS 1671 in the sum of $29,6l8.2l be approved and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioners Clark and Moore. BID NO. 48.18 This being the time set for the opening of Bid No. 48.18 for four pickup trucks and one business Opened coupe, bids were opened from the following firms: Pickup Trucks Business Coupe Empire Motors $1712.06 ea. — A. C. Grant 1296.48 ea $5l85.92 total * $1317.35 ea. * Community Chevrolet 1364.55 ea. 6864:65 total l406.15 ea * Clark County Whse. No Bid — Alternate bid: A. C. Grant $1327.98 ea. 8 cyl. $1548.65 ea. 8 cyl. At this time Commissioner Clark returned. Commissioner Clark moved that the foregoing bids be referred to the City Manager for recommenda­tion. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Moore. BID NO. 48.19 This being the time set for the opening of Bid No. 1:8.19 for one Diesel Patrol Grader, bids Opened were opened from the following firms: C. D. Roeder Equipment Co. $11,593.00 James Cashman ll,859.00 Inland Supply Co. l2,505.00 Clark County Whse. 10.943.92 Commissioner Baskin moved that the foregoing bids be referred to the City Manager for recommenda­tion. Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Moore. BID NO. 1:8.17 At this time the City Manager presented the tabulation on Bid No. 1:8.17 for a spraying machine, Awarded said bids which were opened October 22, 191:8. Thereafter Commissioner Clark moved that the bid of Todd Shipyards being the low bidder meeting specifications in the amount of $1692.65 be accepted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Moore. APPLICATION FOR TAXI Commissioner Baskin moved that the application of R. La Mudge, Checker Cab Corporation for one & U-DRIVES additional taxi and C. F. Shaw, U-Drive, for two additional u-drives for the fourth quarter of 1948 be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Whipple and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. Absent: Commissioner Moore.
