108 EULOGY -- Claud C. On motion of Commissioner Baskin duly seconded by Commissioner Sargent Moore and carried by unanimous vote the following eulogy was ordered spread on the Minutes: The members of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas deeply regret the passing of Claud C. Sargent. His untimely demise has deprived this city of a sincere friend and a devoted public servant. Since making this his home in 1929, he established an enviable record for loyalty and integrity in the affairs of business and municipal government. By his human qualities of kindness, tolerance and understanding, he found everlasting endearment in the hearts of those who knew him, and earned an exalted place in life. His passing will be keenly felt by us in municipal government who were benefitted by daily association with him, as well as by the host of friends he left behind. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family whose loss is irreparable. They may well take consolation in the knowledge that their husband and father was loved by all, and that no other can fill the place he found in the hearts of his friends. CLAIM— C. C. Sargent Commissioner Baskin moved that the claim for salary and accrued leave for Mr. C. C. Sargent, Chief License Inspector, in the sum of $238.54 be drawn payable to the Estate of C. C. Sargent, and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign same. Motion seconded by Commissioner Moore and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. POLICE DEPARTMENT Commissioner Whipple moved that the training officer of the local Los Angeles Police Police Department be granted permission to spend two days at the Academy Training Los Angeles Police Department Academy and that his expenses by paid by the City of Las Vegas, Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote* Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye: noes, none. WAR MEMORIAL BUILDING Commissioner Whipple moved that the rental schedule for the War Rental Schedule Memorial Building be amended as follows: Week Days - Non profit increased from $25.00 to $35.00 Mondays & Fridays, non-holidays - Profit ventures increased from $65.00 to $75.00 Holidays and Saturdays increased from $75.00 to $85.00 Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. STREETS & HIGHWAYS Commissioner Clark moved that the plan heretofore presented by Mrs. Right of Way Ada Bearden of property owned by her with designation of street Bearden Property tight of way she wishes to deed to the City be referred to the planning Commission for recommendation. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. STREETS & HIGHWAYS Commissioner Clark moved that the Opening of Bonneville Street Right of Way from 11th to 12th Streets on an eighty foot right of way be Bonneville from 11th approved in accordance with the typical section recommended by to 12th Streets the Planning Commission and approved by the Board of Commissioners on January 22, 1947. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. MARYLAND PARKWAY Commissioner Baskin moved that the curb right of way be established Right of Way in accordance with typical section on Maryland Parkway as recommended by the Planning Commission February 19, 1947 Insofar as it effects the Al Burbacker property. Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. GAMING APPLICATIONS The following new applications for gaming licenses for the third quarter of 1947 were presented to the Board for their considera- tion: Brownies Garage C. P. Lindermann Brownies Garage C. P. Lindermann Fitch Grocery Edward Koch Harolds Drive In Lee Hughes Commissioner Baskin moved that the foregoing applications be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Moore, Whipple and His Honor voting aye; noes, none.
