82 ORDINANCE NO.333 An ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE EMPOWERING, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE EX-OFFICIO CITY ASSESSOR OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, COUNTY OF CLARK, STATE OF NEVADA, TO LEVY A SPECIAL ASSESSMENT TO DEFRAY THE COST OF MAKING CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS IN THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS BY INSTALLING COMPLETE STREET LIGHTING UNITS WITH PARKWAY CABLE AND STEEL STANDARDS ALONG CERTAIN STREETS AND PORTIONS OF STREETS IN SAID CITY ACCORDING TO THE PLATS, DIAGRAMS AND ESTIMATES OF COST THEREOF ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, DESCRIBING DEFINITELY THE LOCATION OF SAID IMPROVEMENTS, STATING THE AMOUNT OF SAID ASSESSMENT AND DESCRIBING AND DESIGNATING THE LOCALITY CONSTITUTING TEE DISTRICT TO BE ASSESSED ACCORDING TO FRONTAGE AND OTHER MATTERS RELATING THEREO," was referred to a committee composed of Commissioners Clark and Baskin for study and to be reported on at the next regular meeting. GAMING APPLICATIONS Commissioner Baskin moved that the application of A. Kroloff, Palace Barbecue, 210 So. 2nd St. for one slot machine, application of Robert Peccole at Christie's Cafe, 200 No. 1st St. for three slot machines and the application of Howard Crawford and C. B. Hammer for two slot machines at the Las Vegas War Surplus Store, 515 Fremont St. be granted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Corradetti and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. GAMING APPLICATIONS The following gaming applications were presented to the Board for their Renewals consideration: Sal Sagev Tavern El Cortez Hotel, Corp. The Cinnabar L. P. Lawrence Frontier Club A. Kroloff Esquire Bar K. A. Freeman Payless Liquor Store Ray Salmon Cutrate Liquor Store Josie Dondich Club Savoy Joseph W. Alexis Thereafter Commissioner Clark moved that the foregoing applications for renewal of gaming licenses be approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Baskin and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Corradetti and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. ENCROACHMENT ON CITY Commissioner BasKin moved that the legal department be instructed to write PROPERTY a letter to the owners of the following properties located at 1121 Jessica Referred to legal Dept. Way, 1221 So. 15th St., 904 So. 4th, 626 So. 9th, 124 Pico Way, Mayfair No. 3, 248 So. 17th, and to A. W. Blackman in woodlawn Park, notifying them that their fences are on City owned property and directing them to remove said fences at once. Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote: Commissioners Baskin, Clark, Corradetti and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. WAR MEMORIAL HALL Commissioner Baskin moved that permission be granted to the Eagles Lodge to use the War Memorial Hall for a banquet on the 13th & 14th of June. Motion seconded by Commissioner Clark and carried by the following vote: Commissioner Baskin, Clark, Corradetti and His Honor voting aye; noes, none. CITY RECREATION At this time the City Manager presented the following list of persons BOARD who have been appointed to act as members of the City Recreation Board; Mr. Pat Diskin, Miss Clara Hogg, Mr. Pat Bearce, Miss Emily Wheatley, Mrs. Grace Pracejus, Mr. Lou Anton. Mrs. Kenneth Van Vorst, Mr. Ray Ringerhaven, Mrs. Harry Ruggeroli, Mr. Richard King, Mr. A. E. Cahlan, Mr. Harvey Stanford, Miss Eileen Abbott, Mr. LeMar Foremaster, Mrs. Veda Cornwall, Mr. J. Me Quilkin, Mrs. J. W. Ault, Mr. Walter Johnson, and Mr. Orval Lee. There being no further business to come before this meeting, Commissioner Baskin moved that this meeting adjourn until May 26, 1947 at the hour of 2 P.M.
