__CALL OF SPECIAL MEETING To-- Viola Burns, City Clerk Las Vegas, Nevada. A Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, is hereby called to be held in the Board of Commissioners Room in the City Clerk's office, Thursday the 22nd day of August, 1940 at the hour of seven thirty P.M. to consider and act upon the following business: 1. To consider the sponsoring of a City Beautification Project under W.P.A. and to consider said project with C.J. Makey, Local W.P.A. Director. 2. To consider the application of Hilderbrands United Shows to operate in the City of Las Vegas for one week about Sept 16th 1940. Dated this 22nd day of August, 1940. John L. Gilbert, Herb Krause and Al Corradetti, Commissioners: YOU AND EACH OF YOU WILL PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: That pursuant to a call this day issued by the Mayor of the city of Las Vegas, A Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas will be held in the Board of Commissioners Room in the City Clerk's office, on Thursday the 22nd day of August, 1940 at the hour of seven thirty P.M. to consider and act upon the following: 1. Corradetti Mayor Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner the above is a true and correct statement of the estimated receipts and expenditures of the City of Las Vegas, Nevada, for the current year as required by Section 2, Chapter 44, Laws of Nevada, 1935. Vote on the adoption oof the above and foregoing budget was as follows: Commissioners Ronnow, Krause and Corradetti voting aye. His Honor the Mayor voting no. Mayor Russell stated to the Board that he would not sign the above form of budget, and that he would request a mandamus, Mayor Russell further stated that he much regretted signing the original budget adopted the first of February that said budget was padded and false. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Corradetti it was moved and carried that the Clerk mail a copy of said budget to the Nevada Tax Commission and set forth in said letter the fact that the Mayor refused to sign said budget but the same had been adopted by the majority of the Board. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Krause, and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Absent Commissioner Gilbert. Mr. Murray Wollman appeared before the Board at this time and ask that the City take all necessary steps to enact safety regulations in regard to the installation of gas tanks and gas connections within the City. No further business appearing before the Board at this time on motion of Commissioner Krause seconded by Commissioner Corradetti it was moved and carried that this meeting adjourn. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes none. There upon said meeting adjourned.
