RESOLUTION FIXING NUMBER OF POLICEMEN, HOURS OR WORK AND SALARY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE LAS VEGAS POLICE FORCE. WHEREAS, the present police force of the City of Las Vegas, Clark County Nevada, consists of a Chief of Police, one acting Chief of Police and eight Patrolmen, exclusive of one man on Mer­chants Patrol and One Radio Technician, and WHEREAS the patrolmen on said force and the captains are now working a shift of twelve hours each day, end WHEREAS it is desired to change said working day from twelve to eight hours and that by reason thereof it will become necessary to engage two extra men to be known as Relief Patrolmen, NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, that from and after the 1st day of January, A.D. 1940, eight hours shall constitute a work day for each member of the Police Force, which shall mean eight hours of actual duty service and shall not include time taken for meals, and that from and after the said 1st day of January A.D., 1940, and until the further action by this Board, the salary of the respective members of said Police Force (not including said Merchants' Patrolman and the said Radio Technician) shall be as follows: Chief of Police $225.00 per month Two Captains of Police, each 180.00 " " Seven patrolmen, each 170.00 " " Two Relief men, each 150.00 " " Police Commissioner, Corradetti moved the adoption of the above and foregoing resolution and the same was seconded by Commissioner Krause, and upon being put to vote was duly adopted, at a regular (adjourned) meeting of said Board held on the 28th day of December, A.D. 1939 by the following vote: Voting aye: Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting. voting no, none. An ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE OF THE City OF LAS VEGAS LICENSING, FOR PURPOSE OF REGULATION AND REVENUE EVERY KIND OF LAWFUL BUSINESS HEREINAFTER SPECIFIED, TRANSACTED OR CARRIED ON WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAS VEGAS, STATE OF NEVADA: FIXING THE RATES OF LICENSE TAX UPON THE SAME AND PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION OF SAID LICENSE TAX, AND A PUNISHMENT FOR CARRYING ON OR CONDUCTING ANY SUCH BUSINESS WITHOUT A LICENSE, AND REPEATING ORDINANCES NUMBERED 1,2,4,13, 14, 35, 48, 62, 74, 75, 81, 95, 102, 105, 108, 112, 117, 145, 184, 192 and 243" was read ,to the Board for a second time and adopted by the following vote, Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause Gilbert, and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. This ordinance to be known as Ordinance No. 247 of the City of Las Vegas. No further business appearing before the Board at this time on motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that this meeting adjourn. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes none. There upon said meeting adjourned. OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CITY OF LAS VEGAS CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. JANUARY 4th, 1940. Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, held on the 4th day of January, 1940 at the hour of seven thirty P.M. Present Mayor Russell, Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, and Krause, City Attorney and Clerk. Absent Commissioner Corradetti. Attorney Hinman appeared before the Board and ask that the City take the necessary steps to deed back to him ground on which a portion of the golf course is located. Mr. Hinman claiming that the City had not lived up to the agreement and had not fulfilled the terms of said agree­ment. Mr. Austin City Attorney was instructed to search the deed to this property and report his findings to the Board in the near future. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that Warrants Nos. 276 to 285 be allowed and that the Mayor and Clerk sign the same. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, and Krause, and Hie Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the report of the Municipal Judge A.G. Blad be accepted and filed. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, and Krause and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. A writ of attachment served on the City by the Justice Court was presented to the Board for consideration at this time. Said attachment being on the wages of R.D. Pollock a City employee. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow, seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that this mandate be obeyed. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Hie Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the twenty-one (21) retail beverage licenses applied for at this time be granted. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the five (5) sealed package liquor licenses applied for at this time be granted. This appli­cations being for renewal of present licenses. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, and Krause, and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none.
