OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. OCTOBER 26th, 1939. Minutes of a recessed regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, held on the 26th day of October, 1939 at the hour of seven thirty P.M. Present Mayor Russell, Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti, City Attorney Austin, City Clerk Viola Burns. Minutes of recessed regular meeting of October 16th read and approved as read. Mrs. Sam Nettles appeared before the Board and explained that the agent for the building at 213 No 2nd Street was making preparations to repair said building so as to remove the existing fire hazards. This property had been investigated by Fire Chief Case and he reported to the same to the Board at the last recessed meeting and explained that a bad fire hazard existed. A letter from the Junior Chamber of Commerce reporting bad fire hazards in the read of several buildings on the north side of Fremont Street between 1st and 2nd Streets, was read to the Board. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that this letter be handed W.J. Rhoads, Building Inspector, and H. Case, Fire Chief Case and they inspect any and all fire hazards reported to the Board. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that a claim from the Service printers presented at this time for the purchase of three (3) city dir­ectories be allowed. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. At this time it was brought to the attention of the Board the fact that this claim of the Service printers was of long standing and by City Ordinance and Statute this bill was not allow­able. Therefore upon motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved that the foregoing motion be rescinded on the grounds that same was not payable under the City Or­dinances, and the Statute Limitations of the State of Nevada. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the claim of C.D.Baker in the sum of $104.00 for work done on City owned wells be allowed. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. The application of C.F.Reid for 224 No 1st Street for one poker game was presented to the Board and upon motion of Commissioner Corradetti seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and car­ried that a license be granted C.F. Reid for 224 No 1st Street for one poker game. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. (Before this vote was called Mrs. Nettles spoke in behalf of Mr. Reid and informed the Board that it was the desire of the colored people that this license be granted.) On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Corradetti it was moved and carried that all slot machine licenses applied for at this time be allowed and the Clerk issue licenses for same except the license applied for by Jack Weisberger. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the application of Jack Weisberger for the operation of one slot machine license be denied until further investigation by the Board. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that Tom Walsh be employed five days at $5.00 per day to clean brush off city owned gound. Vote Commissioners Ronnow Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the sum of $55.00 be allowed R.D. Pollock for expenses incurred in transporting the City owned buggy to Carson City so that same might be entered in the parade celebrating the Diamond Jubilee October 31st, 1939. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Corradetti seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the bids received and opened for the purchase of fire hose be rejected. These bids were opened at the recessed regular meeting October 16th, 1939. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. No further business appearing before the Board it was on motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause moved and carried that this meeting adjourn. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. thereupon the meeting adjourned.
