Bids for a new motor for a garbage truck were called for at this time and one bid being in the hands of the clerk on order of the Mayor said bid was opened. Thereupon on motion of Commissioner Gilbert, seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that Jas. H. Down, local Studebaker dealer be awarded this bid. Price $331.69. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the City allow the claim of Don McGarvie in the sum of $50.25 covering labor and materials used in repair to pump at city barn. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Commissioner Gilbert recommended to the Board that the bid of the National Ice Co for cooler in the library be accepted. Bid price $186.25. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Corradetti it was moved and carried that the City purchase this cooler and that same be installed at once. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that Cliff Whitemore, former Poundmaster be allow $30.00 same being an allowance for one weeks vacation at the rate of $5.00 per day six day week. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the Petty Cash fund be increased from $25.00 to $100.00 so that an amount of cash might be on hand at all times to pay any small salaries when same became due. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Mayor Miller at this time congratulated the Board of Commissioners on the amount of business finished at the meeting held on June 16th and the lack of unfinished business. Mayor Miller extended to the Board and invitation to attend the annual meeting of the State Municipal League of Utah to be held in St. George Utah August 31st and Sept 1st, 1939. He also informed the Board that the plans for the entertaining of delegates also included a trip to Las Vegas, Boulder City and Boulder Dam on Saturday Sept 2nd and ask that the City of Las Vegas assist in the entertainment of the visiting officials. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Corradetti it was moved and carried that the City of Las Vegas go on record as extending an invitation to the Municipal League of the State of Utah to visit Las Vegas, Boulder City and Boulder Dam Saturday Sept 2nd, 1939, and to assist that League in the carring out of its plans for entertainment at that time. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting Aye. Noes, none. Mayor Miller thanked the Board for the invitation and cooperation as did Tom McCoy the Secretary-Treasurer of the League. Commissioner Gilbert reported to the Board that he was not satisfied with the bid for supplies for the Recreation Department and Moved that the bids be rejected and that the Board readvertise. Motion seconded by Commissioner Krause. Vote on the motion was Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioners Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that the Board approve the salaries for the additional help needed for the Recreational Dept. for the summer months, as same had been submitted to the Board by Bernard Burger, Supt. of this work. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. the resignation of Mrs. Clarence Stay form the Cemetery Board was read to the Board, and upon motion of Commissioner Corradetti seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that Mrs. Stay's resignation be accepted. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. On motion of Commissioner Ronnow seconded by Commissioner Gilbert it was moved and carried that Albert Melton be appointed to serve on the Cemetery Board filling the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mrs. Stay. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause, and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. The Clerk read to the Board a letter from the 65th Field, Artillery Ft. Douglas, Utah asking that permission be granted to this company to camp on City property about July 22nd for one night as this company would be on its way to San Louis Obispo, California for Army Maneuvers. Said company composed of approximately 50 men. On motion of Commissioner Gilbert seconded by Commissioner Krause it was moved and carried that permission be granted this company to camp at the City Park, near the Boy Scout Cabins and that the Clerk be instructed to write this company to this effect. Vote Commissioner Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye. Noes, none. Commissioner Gilbert reported to the Board he had caused to be checked the bids for oil and grease and recommended and so moved that the bid of the Mohawk Service for 500 gals. of Lion Head motor oil and 35 lbs. of grease be accepted. Motion seconded by Commissioner Ronnow. Vote Commissioners Ronnow, Gilbert, Krause and Corradetti and His Honor the Mayor voting aye Noes, none.
