A special meeting of the Board of City Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas is hereby called to be held at the Board Room of the said Board in the City Clerk's office in the City of Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, to be held Saturday the 16th day of November, 1935 at the hour of eleven o'clock A.M. of said day to consider and act upon the following business; 1. consider and act upon the securing of land to be used as an airport for the City of Las Vegas. NOVEMBER 17th, 1935 Minutes of a Special Called meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas, lark County, Nevada, held on the 16th day of November, 1935 at the hour of eleven o'clock A.M. The following answered roll call, Mayor Arnett, Commissioners Down, Farnsworth, Marble and Ward, and City Attorney Taylor and City Clerk Viola Burns. The purpose of the meeting, the considering of the purchasing of land to be used as a municipal air port, being stated the Board at once entered into a discussion on the matter and after due consideration on the matter the following Preambles and Resolution were duly adopted, on motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Farnsworth: WHEREAS, it appears to the Board of City Commissioners that a municipal airport for the City of Las Vegas would be of public use and purpose and of great convenience and benefit to the City of Las Vegas as well as a great advantage to the surrounding community, and WHEREAS, the engineers of the Transcontinental & Western Air, INc. have approved the hereinafter described land as being suitable and adequate for an airport, and WHEREAS, it appears that the Federal Government has offered to expend upon such airport in the event the City procures the land for such purpose, a sum amounting to approximately One Hundred Thousand ($100,000) Dollars, now therefore, be it RESOLVED: That L.L. Arnett, Mayor of the City of Las Vegas, is hereby authorized directed and empowered to enter into an agreement for an on behalf of the City and to bind the City for the purchase of and he is hereby authorized and directed to purchase for the use and benefit of the City the following described land: All the east half (E½) and all the north half of southwest quarter (N½SW¼): and all of the southeast quarter of southwest quarter (SE¼ SW¼) Sec. 36, Township 20 South, Range 61 East., M. D.B.M., Clark County, containing 440 acres more or less, according to the government survey there of.
