    OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK, CITY OF LAS VEGAS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA. JANUARY 4th, 1932. Minutes of a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the City of Las Vegas held on the 4th day of January 1932 at the hour of three o'clock P.M. Roll call showed the following present: Mayor Cragin, Commissioners Mundy, German Thomas, Hansell City Attorney Stevens and City Clerk Viola Burns. All claims allowed as per claims and warrant register on file in the office of the City Clerk. Reports of City Clerk and Municipal Judge approved by the Mayor. Moneys received for the month of December 1931 as follows: $49,219.57 Taxes received from J.M. Ullom City Treasurer. 156.00 Fees from Plumbing Inspector 135.00 Sale of Cemetery Lots 813.00 Poll Tax 2,224.00 Municipal Court Fines 8.056.97 Licenses, and Fees. 60,604.54 Total. Monies proportioned as follows: $49,219.57 Distributed as per Budget 5,000.00 General Fund. 5,280.97 P and F Fund. 135.00 Cemetery Fund 156.00 W.S.&.L. Fund 813.00 Street Fund (Poll Tax) 60,604.54 The Board at this time considered the gaming applications on file with the City Clerk. On motion of Commissioner Mundy seconded by Commissioner Hansell it was moved that a license for the operation of one Stud poker table and one Crap table be granted to Wm. Jones. Mr. Jones presenting proof to the Board that he is sole owner of said business Vote on said motion was as follows: Commissioners Mundy, German, and Hansell and His Honor the Mayor voting Aye. Noes none. On motion of Commissioner seconded by Commissioner German it was moved that the follow­ing gaming licenses be renewed; Boulder Club 6 Devices " 4 Card Games " 6 Slot Machines Las Vegas Club 8 Devices " " " 1 Card Game " " " 8 Slot Machines Rainbow Club 4 Card Tables " " 4 Devices A.T.Mc Carter 1 Slot Machine A.T.Mc Carter 4 Card Tables J.R. Boyer 1 card table W.R.Wooddell 1 Tango Game J.D. Butler 1 Crap table Vote on said motion was as follows: Commissioners Mundy, German, and Hansell and His Honor the Mayor voting Aye. Noes none. On motion of Commissioner Mundy seconded by Commissioner Hansell the following slot machine licenses were granted: D. Stearns 2 Slot Machines E. Guffey 2 " E.E.Masten 1 " " John Van Ryn 1 " " Vote on said motion was as follows: Commissioners Mundy, German, and Hansell and His Honor the Mayor voting Aye. Noes none. At this time three new gaming applications were presented to the Board for its con­sideration, being that of Faxon and Noon, Joe Morgan, and Apache Club. After some discussion on the applications, it was on motion of Commissioner Hansell seconded by Commissioner Mundy moved that the following Preambles and Resolution be adopted: Whereas, conditions have changed in the City of Las Vegas since the adoption of that certain Resolution by this Board at a recessed regular meeting of said Board on the 13th day of November, 1931, wherein by said Resolution it was provided that until the further order of the Board not more than ten gaming licenses, exclusive of slot machine licenses, be granted for the quarter commencing Oct. 1, 1931 and ending Dec. 31, 1931, and Whereas, in the opinion of this Board under said changed conditions there is a need and demand for at least thirteen such gaming licenses for the quarter begining Jan. 1, 1932 and ending March 31, 1932, and the City's interest will be served thereby, and Whereas, there has heretofore been issued or renewed for this quarter, beginning Jan. 1, 1932, and ending March 31, 1932 ten of said licenses, exclusive of slot machine licenses only, and that the granting for said last mentioned quarter at least thirteen such licenses will not contravene public interest and will not require an excessive amount of police protection under the City's 1931 and 1932 budgets heretofore adopted and the state of the City's finds applicable to police protection, but that the granting of more than thirteen such licenses for said last mentioned quarter will contravene public interest and will require an excessive amount of police protection which cannot be met in view of the provisions therefor made in said City's 1931 and 1932 budgets heretofore adopted and as appears from the present state of the City's funds applicable thereto for police protection. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that until the further order of this Board not more
