TULE SPRINGS, CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA Diary entries of Charles Rozaire Southwest Museum Expedition May 8-18, 1955 (continued May 1? (Tuesday) Drove Mr. Harrington to see the elephant bones in A.M. and also showed him other locales where we had done work. In afternoon tested a little more in areas previously dug. Windy day. May 18 (Wednesday) Stopped at Davis* Piano Store shorty(sic)(breaf^y) with others. Drove the Museum truck by myself. Stopped ty (Grace & Joe ) Olivers Ranch (l5 miles East of Lancaster) near Wilsona District. Talked with Grace 0. Stopped by the Harrington's in San Fernando, Had dinner there, about 7:00 Hi, Arrived home (in Culver City) about 8:30 PM after a 320 mile trip. May 19 (Thursday) I drove the Museum truck back to the Southwest Museum. Unpacked the truck in A 0M, Mrs. Oliver called me at the SW Museum about the State Park Commission meeting tomorrow. There was small party, courtesy of Mr. Dentzel, at U:30 with ice cream and cake, with all staff attending, celebrating return of expedition and getting $50,000. Mother & Dad went to Culver City Employees dinner. I got dinner for myself. May 20 (Friday) Went to (Lancaster) meeting of State Park Commission at 9:00 AM, Met Glenn Price there9 also Congressman Miller, Jan Peinero, and others there to ask Commission^ approval of Piute Butte being a State Park. Successful, In afternoon returned to L.A and worked in SW Museum library. Mother, Dad and I went Culver City Unity (Church) dinner. Slides of Europe were shown later.
