Biographical / Historical Note
Jean Olen moved from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1987 with her husband and two children in 1987. Olen was working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and transferred to McCarran International Airport, but found herself out of work due to the FAA's hiring freeze for the fiscal year of 1988. Olen and her husband eventually found jobs as taxicab drivers later that same year. At the time, Olen was one of five female taxicab drivers in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked as a taxicab driver for eleven years before retiring in 1999 due to health complications from a heart attack. In 2008, Olen published
