    Minutes of the Meeting of Board of Directors and Officers of Holocaust Survivors Group of Southern Nevada (HSGSN) at Temple Beth Sholom, March 18, 2001 1. President Anita Schuster chaired the Meeting and called the Meeting to order at 12:30 PM. A quorum was present. 2. The Minutes of the Meeting of February 4, 2001 were distributed and approved. 3. Treasurer's Report Treasurer Jean Lesser reported that, after dues incomes, contributions and expenses the organizations' s bank account is currently at $2,984. The treasurer promised the group that she would sent additional dues statements to delinquent members, who had not paid their 2000/2001 dues. The gift of $54 sent by HSGSN to the Holocaust Library in Reno. NV had been gratefully acknowledged. 4. President's Reports: Old Business a. Bylaws The Bylaws were rewritten to be "gender correct" and free of a few mistakes. The Committee voted to approve the amended By-Laws b. IRS 503c The President informed the assembly that the not-for-profit status has been submitted to IRS after completing a number of the required forms. The Organization is also in need of a n accountant to comply with the IRS and the State of Nevada regulations governing not-for-profit organizations c. Design for the logo of the HSGSN official stationary. After considerable discussion of some the prevailing and submitted designs, the group empowered Mr. Sam Chinkes to head a committee of three to present a design to the Board at the next Meeting. d. Cafe Europa Applications are being made to the Claims Conference for funding of such a project. The President will inform the Committee if there is any progress for this project. e. Holocaust Survivor Convention in Las Vegas Ben Meed is scheduled (expenses kindly paid for by Sidney Pressberg) to address the Group on June 5, 2001. After that Meeting, the Group can consider whether or not to entertain a motion to host a National Survivors Convention in Las Vegas. 3. New Business a. Israel Independence Day (Booth) The Group voted not to man a booth at the time of that occasion [May 6 at Lorenzi Park], b. Las Vegas Jewish Film Festival, April 22, 2001 at Charleston Library. Four films are slated for that festival and a flyer was distributed and members were urged to attend and spread the word. c. Members were urged to attend the Morris Dees (civil rights and hate-crime lawyer-fighter) lecture at UNLV, March 20, 2001 d. Yom Hashoah Rabbi Goodman of Beth Sholom pledged to work with HSGSN to provide a most meaningful program for that evening. e. Transportation Problems The matter of coordinating and providing transportation for members in need of a ride was discussed at some length. f. NAHOS, (The newsletter of the National Association of Jewish Child Holocaust survivors) was sent $25 as a contribution. Adjournment. The Board adjourned 1.55 PM, in time for the General Meeting. The featured speaker was Mayor Oscar Goodman of Las Vegas, NV.
