JEWISH FAMILY SERVICE AGENCY 2013 - 2014 Overview COUNSELING JFSA offers counseling and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. Cognitive behavior Family Systems Psychodynamic Development Grief and Loss Therapy Anxiety and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders Depression and Bi-Polar Disorder Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Trauma recovery Treatment for Substance Abuse, Alcohol and other addictions Chronic illness, Health and Wellness Employment Stress Relationship Concerns Family Conflict Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Behavioral Issues Divorce Life Transitions and Role Change SENIOR SERVICES Senior Services include providing transportation to medical appointments for our seniors, providing seniors with support and assistance with the goal of helping them live independently. Telephone Reassurance Program provides support for Seniors living alone through a daily phone call. This program provides both socialization and emergency welfare service. Senior Companion Program provides Seniors with a weekly dedicated Volunteer for assistance with transportation for medical appointments, prescription pick-up, light house keeping and food preparation. Holocaust Survivor Program provides medical assistance, transportation, socialization and food through the assistance of the Holocaust Claims Conference, specifically for Jewish Nazi Victims. David Berkovits Memorial Fund provides Holocaust Survivors with cash assistance. EMERGENCY SERVICES Emergency Financial Aid and Case Management provided to our Jewish community for housing, utility and transportation emergencies. Food Pantry provides perishable and non-perishable food and hygiene products to individuals throughout Clark County. The Food Pantry is open Monday through Friday, 9:00-11:30am, excluding holidays. ADOPTION Open Arms Adoption Services is a non-sectarian Child Placing Agency licensed by the State of Nevada to provide the following services: Birth Parent Adoption Counseling Adoption Home Study Assessments Adoptive Family Training and Preparation Adoptive Placements Post Placement Supervision Temporary Infant Boarding Foster Care in Licensed Homes Open Arms Adoption provides home studies for domestic, private and international adoptions. Home studies are provided for two parent families, single parent families and same sex families. Results - Provided counseling and psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. ? Saw 626 clients and conducted 1,431 sessions. Initiatives - Medicaid ? Applied for Medicaid Approval to reach a broader portion of the community and as of last week received extremely positive feedback on our application. - Educate Las Vegas ? Launched Program. ? Results - Provided 39 Jewish households and 84 individuals in need with EA for Rent, Utilities and Transportation. - Provided 130 Households and 287 Individuals with Food Pantry services. - Collaborated with Federation to establish the Jewish Free Loan Program. ? 2 loans to date. Results - Provided much needed home care assistance (grocery shopping, prescriptions pick-up, transportation to medical appointments and personal care,) home cleaning and prescription assistance Holocaust survivors. ? !4 Survivors are currently participating in the Program. - Continued to provide Claims Conference Application assistance for Holocaust Survivors. Initiatives - Established the David Berkovits Memorial Fund which has raised almost $10k to date to provide additional cash assistance to Holocaust Survivors. - Collaborating with Midbar Kodesh to provide High Holiday Gift Baskets to Survivors. Initiatives - Monthly Grant reporting to Federation timely and accurate due to the enhanced reporting process developed and implemented in collaboration with Federation. - In the process of cleaning up A/R. - All A/P current. - Cash flow in great shape thanks to Federation's generous decision to allow monthly Grant draws and better budgeting, i.e. timing of expenses with quarterly Claims Conference Grant receipts.
