But I welcome this opportunity to extend warm and personal greetings to all those assembled here. Those of you who are present tonight live close to the testing sites for the development of nuclear warfare and defense. You, are constantly reminded of the present dangers facing o\ir country and each of us. Yet we all realize that we cannot depend solely on our mili-tary power to protect us. We must rely, too, on another great strength, a common heritage, which we share as Americans?our belief in one God and His Commandments. If we are to preserve our common heritage, we must seek to communicate with one another: Men of all faiths must join hands, as you do here tonight, and strive to understand each other. This is a source of great strength which will enable us to stand firm in brotherhood against the threat of annihilation and the Godlessness and anti-faith of Communism. DONOR LUNCHEON Thursday, June 6, at the El Cortez Hotel a delicious buffet luncheon was enjoyed by the Donors and their guests. Bernie Lenz, Moderator, presented a delightful fashion show the models and clothes were outstanding. Prizes were won by Kate Abrahams, Bernice Schiffman, Annette Goldfarb and Adele Stephens. "Century Club Awards" were presented to Eileen Brookman, Blanche Friedman, Etta Harmp.ll, Bess Schwartz and Sara Agron. "Half-Century Club Awards" went to Marge Felman, Henri Gordon, Lee Jackman, Lillian Schiffman, Evelyn Shafer and Jean Sherwin. Our Donor Chairman, Frieda Soskin, prepared the way for a wonderful affair which she could not attend since she and Frank are on vacation. . . .our Thanks to Frieda and her Committee. Last but not least, we wish to thank Mel Exber, and Jerry Baum of the El Cortez Hotel and Hostess Blye Smith. Mr. Harold Mondschein, BBYO Director - District #4, was a recent visitor to our City a luncheon meeting was held at the Hotel Sahara on Wednesday, June 4. Those present at the meeting were Neil Galatz, Eileen Brookman, Jerry Engel, Elsie Goldring, Mr. & Mrs. Jerry Morrison and Mrs. Mondschein. Mr. Mondschein attended the BBG and AZA meetings in the evening. A capacity audience heard a long list of candidates from both parties, thereby enabling them to vote more intelligently. All of the candidates were so happy to have been invited, and Senator Bible said that each campaign he looks f o r w a r d to being invited by our organization since this is the only time during the campaign that candidates from both parties can come face-to-face with each other and state their views.
