I hope this letter finds you happy and healthy and surviving the hot summer. Your Shoshanim Board had a very fruitful meeting at the home of Sheila Simon last month and we brainstormed some wonderful ideas and plans for the coming year. Because so many of our girls travel during the summer months and because of the holidays in September and October our schedule will divert from the normal first Monday of each month. On Monday, August 14,1995 we will meet at the Hunan King Chinese Restaurant at 5960 Spring Mountain Road (near Jones Blvd) at 7:00 p.m.. (Tel: 221-0456). This will be an opportunity for us to visit socially and to keep in touch. Vegetarian meals are available. This is a "Dutch Treat" event. Please RSVP to Sheila Simon - 256-3976 by August 10th. Our September meeting will be on September 11, 1995 and in October on October 9th. You will receive monthly mailings with information about those meetings but please mark your calendars now. The Chapter is selling beautiful Rosh Hashanah Cards at a cost of $10.00 for 12 cards. If you wish to order any, send your check and order to Jeanine Rappaport, 6105 Browning Way. Las Vegas, NV 89130. The cards will be delivered directly to your home and you will receive full donor credit. Speaking of donor credit, Donor is now $200.00 cash and $50.00 service. The service is easily attained by donating usable merchandise to the Hadassah Thrift Shop for which you will also receive an IRS tax deduction. Ways of making the cash amount include having a meeting at your home, buying tributes (from Brina Drobnis -243-7474), and buying or selling an ad in the Chapter's yearly calendar. The Chapter publishes a very professional calendar each year thac is distributed to all members, to all advertisers in the calendar and to people who request it. (in excess of 600 persons and companies). Advertisers are still needed. If you have a business and would like to advertise, please call Eleanor Schwimmer - 871-5583. The cost of a full page is $125.00, a half page is $75.00 and a quarter page is $50.00. You will receive full donor credit for the ad. Personal ads are also available. Happy Belated July Birthdays to Hedda Abbott, Sandee Fleekop, Harriet Ganz, Anita Lindner, Debbie Mandell, Gerri Schwartzer, Harriet Smylie, and Jo Ann Stevens. Happy August Birthdays to Nancy Bernstein, Ronni Epstein, Belinda Ingrande, Pauline Paz, Priscilla Schwartz, Marcy Simon, and Celia Solomon. Congratulations to Barbara and Paul Schwartz on the move mto then- new home. Mazel Tov to Sheila and Gil Simon on the new addition to their family - twin grandsons, Michael and Travis. Congratulations to our newest life members; Nancy Bernstein and Sandee Fleekop. Sandee turned 21 on July 25th and her birthday present from her parents, Jackie and David, was a life membership to Hadassah. Mazel Tov and Welcome!! Thank you to the many annual members who have already mailed in your dues for the 1995-1996 year. Dues are still $25.00 a year. Life membership is $250.00 and transferable to any Hadassah group in the world. If you have not already sent in your dues, please send your check to Marcy Simon, 8524 W. Continue saving your samples and toiletries for The Shadetree Shelter for battered women and your labels for St. Jude's Ranch for abused children in Boulder City. Bring them with you to the meeting.
