SHOSHANIM GROUP - HADASSAH GENERAL MEETING - DECEMBER 9, 1996 At the Home of Marcy Simon Prior to the meeting, refreshments were served, latkes in the honor of Chanukah. The inclement weather delayed the arrival of many members. The Meeting was called to order at 8:00 PM by President Sherry DeArmas. Special thanks was given to Marcy for the use of her home this evening. Toys collected were donated for children of Safe Nest. Extra staples purchased with coupons may also be donated to make starter package at future meetings. Those present introduced themselves, stating positions on the board and membership status. Great enthusiasm was shown b^ all members and new life members. Sandee Fleekop, Education Vice President, provided information regarding advances made in aroma therapy as an alternative medical treatment at the Hadassah Hospital. These therapies are used to relieve stress, sinus symptoms and headaches through the use of invigorating oils, candles and lotions. The nominating committee for the 1997-98 slate was announced. Committee members identified themselves: Ilene Adler, Jackie Fleekop, Birdie Goldsmith, Lindsay Alpert, and Harriet Smylie. Those interested in filling a position on the board should please meet with one of these women. The slate will be presented at the February meeting, in the March bulletin and the elections will be held in April. The installation will be held in May. On April 19, 1997 our group will hold a Wine and Cheese Extravaganza at the home of Michelle Raymer. This will be a fund raising event organized by the following committee: Ramona Luckman, Michelle Raymer, Ilene Adler, Bernice Wagner, Linda Pleeter and Sheila Simon. The wine has been graciously donated by Bernice Wagner's husband. We are looking for cheese and fruit donations or purchase of the same at reasonable discounts. The cookbook fund-raiser is being formulated by Kathleen Menasche. If you have a wonderful recipe to share, please contact Kathleen. Entertainment books are still available for purchase. A short discussion regarding postage for the bulletin was held. It was decided that the general active membership would donate the cost of a Shoshanim mailing by each member who is interested in receiving the bulletin. On December 15th the chapter will be having a board meeting at Judy Mack's home at 10:00 AM. You are welcome to attend even though you are not a board member. The Life Membership luncheon scheduled for January 26, 1997 is being re-planned. Details will be given at our January meeting. At this time the meeting was turned over to Jackie Fleekop for her program of Chanukah crafts. The group made menorah place mats, shamos candles, tile menorahs, decorative magnets, necklaces, etc. As the crafts program moved towards conclusion, members took leave without a formal meeting adjournment. Respectfully submitted, Harriet Smylie Recording Secretary
