SUGGESTED COPY FOR PROCLAIMATION BY MAYOR ORAN G RAGS ON WHEREAS, we find now that in the course of its hungry pursuit for peace and dignity our brethen in the State of Israel have risen as a free people ready to fight and die to protect these fruits of life; and WHEREAS, all freedom-loving men the world over must recognize that the actions of the State of Israel this past week have been aimed only at the survival of its people and its pursuit of life, liberty and happiness; and WHEREAS, we have been made aware of the terrible drain upon the economic resources of the free State of Israel by virtue of its leaders having pressed every man possible, every food ration available, everything needed to fight and protect itself against an enemy fifty times its size who had threatened its annihilation; and WHEREAS, we must recognize the fact that the State of Israel has been the biggest single bastion against Communism in the East and thus to have been defeated and annihilated would have meant the death of another flame of freedom in this darkened world; NOW, COME YEA ALL IN LAS VEGAS - Jew and non-Jew alike - if it is freedom you cherish, if it is the right to speak, to work and pray as you wish, to observe MONDAY, JUNE 12TH, as ISRAELI PEACE DAY in this City. THEREFORE, by virtue of this Proclaimtion, let us recognize the fight for just peace by the State of Israel; let us recognise that this free State shall be helped by freedom-loving people everywhere when it sits down at the Armistice Table and boundry lines are delineated;and let us be deeply aware that the territorial integrity of the free State of Israel and of any free people anywhere in the world be protected with dignity, honor and justice.
