Seven more Senators and four more Assemblymen. . . . stood alone and fought for reapportionmnt of the University Board of Regents? and got two more Regents for Clark County. ? ? The job of being a good state senator is a tough one. It takes a person who is willing to stand up and be counted! Getting a bill through committee and making it the law of this state takes a lot of determination and dedication. There's no room in our senate for those who are afraid to vote their conscience because they?re controlled by some special interest group. FLORA VOTES HER CONSCIENCE. Public office Is a public business and not private enterprise! It?s not a place for a businessman to make money because of any influence he may be able to exert. There are too many cases of public officials who deal with businesses and then take advantage of the fact that these ,same businesses must come before them for a license. It's going to take action at the state level to stop this practice. ? ? ? WHEN ONE OF OUR YOUNGSTERS gets into trouble we must HELP HIM. Spring Mountain Youth Camp has an outstanding record of rehabilitation. We don?t want It taken over by the state. We donli wpnt it to become the same failure that the Caliente girls school Is? there the first consideration was the economy of the area. Our first consideration must be the welfare of our youngsters. We don't need another mis?managed state Institution. ? ? ? AS LONG AS I?M a ?member of this community? In office or not, I will not change my position on marijuana. I?m against making marijuana legal, and I? ll fight any attempt by anyone to. make marijuana, LSD, pills, heroin or any other narcotic either legal or available. ? ? ? WE MUST FIND the solution to our narcotic problems ? We need to put emphasls\ on prevention,! by educating our youngsters/about the evils of narcotic addiction and the harmful effect of drugs. We need extensive rehabilitation programs to help those who are already addicted. AND, we need effective realistic and enforceable laws that are aimed at stopping this menace.? .
