I agree.I HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED CONCERNS OVER THE SAFETY IN TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING OF NUCLEAR WASTE. HOWEVER, DURING MY CHAT WITH CHIC" TOUR OF NEVADA IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER, I FOUND THAT MANY RESIDENTS IN AREAS CLOSEST TO THE YUCCA SITE ARE NOT OPPOSED AND ARE ALREADY COMFORTABLE LIVING AND WORKING AROUND NEVADA TEST SITE. THE YUCCA SITE WOULD MEAN MANY JOBS AND AN ECONOMIC SHOT IN THE ARM. AFTER HAVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THE PROPOSAL, I NOW BELIEVE WE SHOULD KEEP AN OPEN MIND AND RELY ON ALL THE FACTS THROUGH THE SITE CHARACTERIZATION PROCESS AND HAVE SOME INPUT FROM NEVADANS. I MUST REJECT THE GOVERNOR'S SUGGESTION THAT THE ENTIRE CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION STRONGLY OPPOSE THE YUCCA SITE SIMPLY AS A KNEE JERK POLITICAL REACTION."
