I agree.EXECUTIVE Las Vegas, Nevada ?╟≤ Phone 735-9111 ?╟≤ (Area Code 702) April 11, 1972 i Mr. Rafael Matute, President Mr. Miguel S. Berges, Vice President MATU-TV Publicidad S.A. Insurgentes Sur 1650-602 Mexico City, Mexico Dear Rafael and Miguel, I have been waiting for your official letter on your stationery regarding the proposed television program you wanted to try and produce in Las Vegas, using stars from the Hughes Hotels and other people. In the meantime, researching the costs of stars' appear- ances, the cost of the bonds for the unions, the cost of residual rights, and especially the technical costs trying to photograph a star while actually on stage during a performance, leads me to only one conclusion - to do this show poses an almost insurmountable number of problems and especially a totally unexpected amount of money. There are so many questions to which we cannot get definite answers until the very last minute, that I must recommend that you should be prepared to spend at least $100,000 on this program. I realize this is far greater than you anticipated and I myself think it is way out of reach for a sponsor such as yours. In working with Mr. Kane, our Vice-President in Charge of Entertainment for the Hughes Hotels, and in checking with producers to try to video tape this program all in one trip, as you suggest, it would involve the following ball- park figures: 1. Payment to stars $25,000-$40,000 2. Bonds, residual fees, etc. 3. Technical work 4. Unforeseen expenses $15,000 $30,000 $15,000
