This figure will cover all costs, including equipment and the services of an engineer from your local Mutual outlet, KRAM. The above broadcasts would be at 5sl5 a.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - August 30th, 31st, September 1st and 2nd. I suppose the logical spot to originate the broadcasts would be the quiet of our own rooms; however, I can see certain big advantages to being near the Casino - possibly in a remote corner of the Copa Room, or on the stage with the curtains pilled. It might be fun to bring in someone from the Casino who had just hit the jackpot on a slot machine, or to take a hand mike into the Casino, itself, for a five-minute segment, during which I could interview a croupier or a stickman (off- duty, of course) about the strange habits of people at the tables. Obviously, we would plan to have a nice, fat interview with Jack Entratta, and the emphasis would be kept upon the Sands Hotel, no matter what phase of Las Vegas we were discussing. We would like the privilege of bringing in stars from other shows, after we had interviewed the headliner of your show. If, for instance, Tony Martin was singing at The Dunes, we would like to be able to have him on the program, and while we would mention The Dunes in passing, the emphasis would be upon his own history and his personal reaction to Las Vegas. Frankly, I think the Sands management would be delighted with the results, and completely satisfied that it was the biggest return per investment dollar they*ve ever received. However, if they felt they would like someone else to share in the cost of these line charges, I do have other contacts in Las Vegas that might welcome the opportunity to pick up part of this outlay. Dorothy is most enthusiastic about this project, and would doubtless file and date-line several columns from Las Vegas. cont*d*
