The Junior Chamber of Commerce, which has sponsored the Miss Houston Pageant for the past 23 years, is enthusiastically going ahead with its plans for the big event which takes place on the afternoon of July 14 in the air-conditioned Sam Houston Coliseum, Bill McDavid, owner of Bill McDavid Olds mob ile, Inc,, at 1401 Travis, will underwrite the pageant, Now, the search is on for Houston?╟╓s most attrac- tive and talented young ladies. Information on entering the competition will be announced soon. ?╟╓?╟╓This is going to be the biggest pageant ever held in Texas, " Wally Sisk, a co-??chairman of the Jaycee Miss Houston Pageant Committee, said, "We're lining up some extremely valuable prises for the winner and negotiating with one of the nation's top stars to emcee at the Coliseum. ?╟╓?╟╓ Wes Hooper, president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, said that the organization is forming a group of committees within the pageant committee itself. This will involve hundreds of workers, he said. Winners of the Miss Houston Pageant will compete for the title of Miss Texas at Kerrville later this year. Winner of that competition will represent the state in New Jersey in September. Last year's Miss Houston, Barbara Murray, went on to become Miss Texas. -30-
