The occasion will be the two preliminary contests prior to the pageant itself which is scheduled for July 14 in the Sam Houston Coliseum. In a setting of tall pine trees and a Sparkling pool, the preliminaries will be held at the Western Skie3 Motel, 7809 Katy Road. Leon Green, owner of the Western Skies, plans to build a decorative bridge across the pool on which the contestants will parade. In addition, there will be ample seating for the public and an orchestra will provide tmjsic. Several rooms in the swank motel will be made available for the bathing beauties. A week before the preliminaries, a special screening committee of the Junior Chamber of Commerce--which is sponsoring the Miss Houston Pageant-- will interview all the contestants and select the 50 who will appear at the week end preliminaries. From these judges will choose 10 finalists to be present at the Coliseum. Meanwhile, the Jaycees are accepting entries for the Miss Houston Pageant at their office, 11th floor. Commerce Building.
