FREEMAN COMPANY pub//c/sts PLANNING 11/13/58 REPORT ON WORLD CONGRESS OF FLIGHT MEETING Held at Riviera Hotel - 2:00 P.M. - November 12, 1958 This was a general meeting called to finalize plans for resort hotel and Las Vegas official cooperation with the Air Force Association in staging the First World Congress of Flight, April 12, 1959. George Albright presided ?╟÷ all county commissioners and County Fair Board and Recreation members were present ?╟÷ and Senator Bible stopped in to listen. Main points outlined: 1. This important project will open the Las Vegas Convention Center. 2. About 5000 people are expected, based on the figure of 3260 registrants for the 1958 AFA convention held in Dallas. 3. 374 private companies who manufacture or supply aircraft and affiliated parts will be invited to set up displays. These industrial firms are all active members of the Association. Of this figure, 293 attended the Dallas convention ?╟÷ it is thus reasonable to expect at least 250 firms to be represented in Las Vegas next year. 4. The biggest need for this convention will be suites ?╟÷ suites large enough for entertaining by industrial companies who will be promoting themselves with potential buyers of their wares through the use of hospitality rooms and parties. 5. There is also a pressing need for larger "meeting rooms" to accommodate 50-100 people. 6. An AFA committee of its top officers will visit every hotel in the next 48 hours to finalize each hotel?╟╓s commitment on rooms and the facilities it will have available for parties and meetings in April. 7. By the end of this weekend, officers of the AFA will have stayed in every hotel in order to sample the service and the kind of atmosphere their members can expect. 9508 WILSHIRE BLVD. ?╟≤ BEVERLY HILLS.
