Mr. All Freeman Page 2 June 22, 1966 And there is a very distinct possibility that the famous trumpet player, Bobby Hackett will also be in attendance. Our Production Department has already contracted for thirteen musicians which possibly might be expanded to eighteen. This group will be under the direction of one of our own staff producers, Mr. Stu Phillips. As we discussed, I am looking for as much local publicity and exposure as possible for the entire meeting. By that I mean the display of Epic album covers throughout the hotel, in the men's shop and whatever areas of display that are available to us. We spoke of the Sands officially welcoming the Epic National Sales Convention on your marquee and the existing billboard which is on the road in from the airport. I would like the local press and radio personnel to receive an official press notice about our meeting and the recording artists who will be in attendance. I shall instruct our own Publicity Department to give you a more formalized press release which can be trans- mitted to the Vegas newspapers, television and radio personalities. If there is any way for the Vegas Chamber of Commerce to set up a display or a banner in the airport welcoming the Epic Record group, it would be most appreciated. Our distributors and their personnel will begin arriving either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, the 16th and 17th. Actually what I would like to do is steal the thunder wherever possible from our parent company who will be following our meeting with one of their own at the Dunes. At the show itself, Tuesday night, I would like to invite the guests of the hotel to be present at the performance. Considering all of the preliminaries, we should be able to get the show underway by 10:00. You mentioned something about the possibility of selling tickets to local residents and the proceeds going to some charitable cause... is this still possible? Please communicate with us in these matters and key John Mahan for copies of your correspondence. Since John is on the coast he will be the direct liaison between us. cc: Mr. Joe Carbone Mr. John Mahan
