ands Hotel Hosting Four-Day Epic Records Convention A four-day national convention of the Epic Record Company will begins today at the SiKHs Hotel and ends Tuesday night, when the firm will present a special show at the Sands, ? α * ? α BOBBY VINTON Convention Entertainer featuring top recording artists on the Epic label. The convention, which will at- tract delegates from throughout the United States and Canada, is an annual event at which new releases are discussed and plans for the coming year are an- nounced. Leonard Levy, vice president and general manager of Epic, will attend the meetings and is expected to make a number of important announcements con- cerning Epic?╟╓s rising future in the recording business^ On the entertainment side, the program will be headlined by young recording star Bobby Vin- ton, who has amassed an envia- ble list of million sellers, in- cluding his first Gold Record ?╟úRoses Are Red,?╟Ñ which has sold over three million since being released in 1962. Since then, _ Vinton?╟╓s record sales have been discussed in terms of ?╟úmillions?╟Ñ and he has sold five million copies in a single year. Another headliner well known to Las Vegans is Norm Crosby who will serve as master-of- ceremonies for the Sands Grand Ballroom show. Crosby, the comedian who fractures history and the Eng- lish language in delightful style, is relatively new to the enter- tainment industry, but in- four years has secured long-term contracts at major hotels across the nation. Also on the show will be The Vibrations, a top rhythm-and- blues group with three best sell- ing singles during 1965; and a rising young singer, Walter Jackson, who has captured the imagination of Epic executives and is being groomed for the future. Renowned cornetist and trump- consistant long-play album art- ists, will appear, and his seg- ment will be a demonstration in versatility and interpretation. Ronnie David, who has proved a popular drawing card both to live audiences and on record/ may also work in duo with Hack ett as the pair did on a recent release.
