WELLS August 10, 1964 Suffolk,Virginia 23435 Las Vegas News Bureau Convention Center Las Vegas, Nevada Attention Mr. James Deitch, Bureau Manager Dear Mr. Deitch: Sometime in April or May Sport's Illustrated there was an article by Charles Goren, the bridge expert, on gin rummy and particularly the annual Gin Rummy Tournament in Las Vegas, In his article Mr, Goren mentioned a few of the rules including an entry fee of $100 and various other rules, regulations, etc, and I was in- terested enough to write the Stardust Hotel for full information. Their answer left a lot to be desired, as it was simply a form letter outlining their rates, etc, and a postscript at the bottom simply stating 'Gin Rummy Tournament in March?╟Ñ. Seeking further information I wrote Mr, John R, Crawford care of Elk's Magazine, who writes about all card games under title "Play Cards With Crawford" and Mr. Robert C. Malone, Associate Editor has written me suggesting that I contact you. If you can furnish me full'Information on this annual tournament, ineluding entrance blanks, etc..as I would like to take a fling at something like this)just to get back to Vegas for a few days. /
