I agree.9/19/63 Mr, Gene Hayes DuQuoin State Fair c/o Coca-Cola Company DuQuoin, Illinois Dear Gene, First of all, my sincere thanks to you and Don for making it so pleasant for Red to work at the DuQuoin State Fair, X also appreciate Mr, Stacy's cooperation and competence made Mr, Entratter and Mr, Ross aware of the help from all of you. It was nice of you to invite Red over to your house after the show and I hope sane day we can return your courtesy. I had a thought about something you said at the party at your house - I wonder if you might send us a letter containing the phrase that you used to me - "first time in the history of a fair that I have ever seen a standing ovation for a performer," I would like to use the letter either in an editorial or advertising casq>algn to show Red's drawing ability as far as fairs go - and would certainly appreciate your testimonial as to his engagement at DuQuoin, If we may have such a letter, would you please address it to Red Skelton himself, and send it to me here at the Sands? I will keep you posted as to the proposed use of such a letter, as well as pictures of him at the Fair, and will make sure that any use of your material is kept within the confines of good taste and intelligent promotion. Kindest regards, y in coordinating things between you and Red - and 1 have A1 Freeman /aw
