I agree.Skelton ?╟≤ 3 Also present was one of the comedian's closest friends, the Very Rev. Edward J. Carney, O.S.A., of Lawrence, Mass., Fr. Carney had returned from a government mission to Germany in time to be with Skelton today. Fr. Carney gave the invocation at the Connor Award ceremonies at John Hancock Hall, and was made an honorary brother cf the fraternity, along with Skelton. Following the Connor Award, the 81st Founder?╟╓s Day convocation of Emerson College was held at Boston historic First Church. Receiving honorary degrees, in addition to Skelton, were: Douglas Sloane of Rindge, N.H., founder of Rindge's famed Cathedral in the Pines, who received an L.H.D., and Dr. Robert E. Moody, Chairman of the Department of History at Boston University. Dr. Moody, who spoke on "Logs, Libraries, and Learning," received an LL.D. Receiving honorary masters' degrees were Dr. Coleman C. Bender of Watertown, Mass., Chairman of Emerson's Department of Speech, and Mrs. Patria Winalski of Glastonbury, Conn., of the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. (MORE)
