In his writing, Skelton frequently gives a musical impression of an event, a country he has visited, or something which he believes lends itself to expression in song. To that end, he has written such songs as "Russian Sleigh-ride," '.'Women of Athens," "Istanbul Express," "London Towers," and "Nikko Gardens." And songs such as "Gambler's Waltz," "Now She's Eighteen," (written for Red's daughter, Valentina), "Red's White and Blue March," and "The Deep Sea," are all similarily written as an expression of Skelton's mood and feeling. In the past, a number of songs composed by Skelton have been recorded. His marches were recently done by the Grenadier Guards marching band from London. Lawrence Welk has introduced several of Red's polkas and Skelton is also preparing a musical release which will be a long-playing Liberty album. A number of these songs will be included in Sunday's concert. Meanwhile, Skelton is baqk at work poolside putting together new songs as an inspiration comes over him. Planning, of course, for next year's concert. Admission to Sunday's program is free and guests will be admitted through the front doors of the Grand Ballroom. fl # 1 1
