Host of these steps will require the fine hand of counsel and suggest that you route this letter to the counsel for your local newspaper who* X am sure* have had experience in estab- lishing and qualifying tax exempt funds, Among the steps which must be taken rather quickly are the followingi 1, A not-for-profit trust must be organised under Indiana law* established as of September 1, 1963* It must obtain State tax exemption, 2, A set of accounting records must be established which clearly indicate the amount of the contribution to the Fund* 1die earnings* and the expenditures, 3, An Application For Sxemptlon* Federal For?½ 1023# must be filed and the information requested therein must be furnished, the Internal Revenue Service will ex- amine carefully the legal documents in order to deter- mine . the funds will truly be used for charit- able purposes* rather than for the benefit of certain specified persons, they will also be interested in
