June 3, 1964 Mr. lied Skelton: Sands Hotel Las Vegp s, Nevada My dear Mr. Skelton; On the 29th of August, 1964, the above named Association will produee "Opera Under the Stars" at La PaLama Stadium here in the City of Anaheim. Tin reason for the show, the eoastal freeway is going along Newport Blvd. in Santa Ana and our Paularino school aid training oenter must give way to the freeway. The show is to raise money for our building fund to build new classrooms. These mentally retarded children cannot be admitted to public school. Also, I should like to point out that we are a non-profit organization aa d receive no aid from the State or United Way, We also have a work shop and training ??enter for retarded adults at 2002 W* Ghesnut in Santa Ana. WH le I realize that you are a very busy man, Mr. Skelton, would you consider putting on a one hour performance at our show. Your appearance jrould mean complete success. We have upward to thirty thousand re- tarded child ren and adults in Orange County and if it is possible for you to appear the association, the parents and myself would be forever grateful.
