Beauty for heir is more than skin deep. It's inherited. Valerie's mother is Valerie Raemier, once known as Broadway's highest-salaried showgirl. She was a Ziegfeld girl in many of that showman's Follies. Even Valerie's father was of show business. He was the late Edgar Allen, a Broadway talent booker for such theaters as the Palace. Valerie did become an actress by accident?╟÷and by eating. Three years ago she was a receptionist in an oil company office. ""I know, it sounds stupid,"" she says, '*but I thought he wanted me to dance with him right then and there. I got up and then I noticed there was no music."" What Entratter had in mind was an offer to join the hotel's chorus line billed as ""the most beautiful girls in the West."" She did and stayed with fee chorus until the next anniversary party. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis were the headline act. That year she met Mack Gray, longtime business associate of Martin's and still Valerie's steady boy friend. Gray invited Valerie to come over to Paramount Studio VALERIE ALLEN with motherj the next time she was in Holly- . Ki wood, promising her lunch and a studio tour. She stopped by the . next week. Milton Lewis, Paramount talent executive, saw. 'her eating in the commissary and immediately told Gray he wanted to meet her. That lunch turned into a long-term contract. This year she went up to the ' Sands' fourth anniversary party. The headliners were Jerry Lewis, Danny Thomas and Frank Sinatra, The photogs were busy shooting Valerie with Sinatra.
