Danner, general manager of the Sands, announced today several key executive promotions for the Strip hotel. Danner appointed Rand D. Clark, Jr. as Sales Director, Ted Ward is now Resident Manager, while Dan Napier was promoted to the position of Assistant Resident Manager. Danner said the three new appointments are effective immediately. "We are delighted to have these outstanding and talented men in such responsible positions, M Danner commented. nThese promotions from within the hotel are keeping with our policy of recognizing executive leadership in our personnel, fI he concluded. Clark, 25, has been with the Sands for three years. He started in 1972 under the hotels executive training program. The following year he was appointed Sales Manager and served in that position until now. Clark is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He and his wife, Betty, have a one-year-old son, Rand Erin. He attended Brigham Young University on a scholarship, and is currently enrolled in UNLV's School of Hotel Administration. Ward, 33, attended Orange County Junior College, Costa Mesa, California, and Cascade College in Portland, Oregon, where he majored in accounting. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years prior to joining the Sands eight years ago. Ward started at the Sands as a room clerk, and promoted to Assistant Resident Manager in 1969. He and his wife, Carol, have four children, Jeannie, age 11; Teddy, age 9; Julie, age 6; and Rory, age 5, Twenty-three-year-old Napier moved to Las Vegas from Denver, Colorado, in 1972. He immediately went to work for the Sands as a dishwasher, and was promoted to clerk, and later to chief clerk.
